i'm in, i have been using a linnel £30 messenger bag for nearly 5 months and i will be writing a review of it next week. I think peopel will be quite shocked by what you can get for £30.

I would be willing to review stuff. I think it would be good to have some independent reviews that are free from advertising pressures (which does happen with a lot of magazines).

though please do not ask me to review a unipak

or endura, altura or any of those budget brands, I can do the Winners Dinners of cycling reviews!
can you imagine the hives I would suffer if asked to have none merino or silk fabrics against my precious skin?

should we build a review template so the reviews are somewhat standardised? ie rough word count, certain sections to include, and a ratings table?
i am happy to write and/or edit reviews if we want to add a degree of polish. i used to be an editor and i write the odd gadget review.

This shit has legs.
Cool... now I need to find companies who want to let us review their stuff ;)
Any bike companies or distributors on here with the courage to put their items up for review?
Oh... and reviews... I want them to have some calibre and a high standard. Deal is: We get the gear to review = we do a damn good job of the review (fair, accurate, etc). What this ultimately means is that we'd need an editorial process, a template/guide to follow, a standard set of metrics to rate stuff on so that comparisons can be done, etc.

put me down as well.
And I mean properly review stuff... get gear, take it home, try it out... consider it thoroughly, write it up in legible English, rate it on appropriate things, etc.
Basically... trusted reviews of bike bits and services with an in-depth report.
If you're interested... let me know... what you'll get from this will vary, some suppliers might let you keep stuff, others might not... I guess it depends on value (I can see suppliers letting you keep a pair of cheaper shoes, but perhaps not a £2k OTP bit of bike porn).
The idea is to go further than the sketchy debates about stuff and actually field test stuff.
We're not a magazine... we don't have advertising space that we have to sell... good, honest field tests are worth a lot and I'm quite happy if we slag stuff off if something is dire.
I haven't worked out how it will all work, but hell... it'll be fun and a good blag for those involved and it will give us the opportunity to really highlight the good stuff, the bad stuff and what's out there. I really like the idea of reviewing lots of similar items at a time so that we can produce good side by side comparisons... but I guess we'd need to put some real effort into making synchronised field tests really work.
