No no my young friend that is a buttermilk biscuit! Big difference! Biscuits and gravy, chicken and biscuits, Mmmmmm! Where are you when I need you Aroogah?

Scones have sugar - biscuits do not although they are probably derived from scone recipes - simple bread with no yeast.
We dropped the sugar as it messes up the sausage gravy and fried chicken.

I make my own biscuits. It's not financially viable but I love the smell and having to wait for them to cook keeps my addiction under control.

dudes, keep the biscuit recipes, underwraps, we need marinade recipes as south bbq will be in full effect this year, and I'm expecting some good down home cooking from our american cousins...
though having biscuits with the burnt meat on the bbq would be fun....

I had a look but couldn't find any threads on the subject of biscuits even though they come up a lot.
Biscuits are great and, along with tea, are in my opinion an essential accessory to forum browsing, especially of an afternoon. I'm interested to know what the favourites are amongst other forum-dwelling mammals?
Currently I'm polishing off a packet of ginger nuts*, although i wouldn't call them my favourite as I find them a little too sweet after the first two dozen. I'm a committed advocate of Tunnock's offerings, although they are dangerously close to bars/ cakes.
Can we also put to rest the role of the 'cookie' as little more than an American sub-genre of biscuit?
Thanks.
*cue joke from Dale or Murtle regarding my auburn hairpiece... believe it or not i made the connection and laughed it off about a decade ago.
