  • If there's a trick you're working on and need some help then post it up here and someone will help out.

Also, if you want to help by giving a tutorial then that would be great.

There are a few slightly easier 'tricks' that could do with being posted just to start the ball rolling, so if anyone wants to just put a little something about how to wheelie, skid, trackstand, etc then please do.

  • First up.....SLIDERS!

    Slider Tutorial on Vimeo

  • nice, need to get my backwards cycling better though. the times i tried it i nailed myself, where do you keep your weight when throwing the bike round?

  • As far over the back wheel as possible, that keeps the front end light which makes it easy to initiate the slide, because the aim is for you to be pivoting on the back wheel with next to no weight on the front so its easy to bring it round. My backwards riding is not that great yet either, but i'm starting to get sliders pretty dialled, just takes practice, and then more practice until you dial it in.

  • Another excellent tutorial from Tom Mosher, this time...Keo spins:

  • Keo's are annoying me. Tut's like that make it look so easy, yet I still can't do them grrr!

  • Another great tutorial from the main man tom mosher, this time, bar spins, and bar spin wheelies:

  • Good call James. I'm trying to sort out my wheelies and bar spins. Some people just seem to have great balance and are able to sit at that 'balance point' so that they can wheelie for as far and as long as they like. They can then put in whatever tricks they want.

  • so if anyone wants to just put a little something

    youe really asked for ;)
had much fun this morning, mybe next time i should think about the text first. my english is not so good, sorry.

    YouTube - 2009 Trackstand - BFXD

  • Awesome, nice to see some user contribution!

  • Nice one Befixed. That was a really good little tutorial.

    What country are you in?

Also, do you find it easier to trackstand sitting down or standing up? I can trackstand at a set of lights standing, but as soon as I try it sitting down I loose my balance. Is there something I'm doing worng?

  • Its slightly easier standing up I find. Honestly its just one of those practice makes perfect things, try starting your trackstand sitting down rather than going from standing to sitting. Just spend an hour on a flat surface and you should get it locked in man.

  • hi bd!

    thanks for props.

i am from germany, near north sea coast.

i find it easier when i m standing up.
i try to find a reason:
when you stand you can easily push the bike back and fore without changing the body balance.

when you sit down you also have less feeling or control/power in the pedals.
and you cant do a fast correction hop.

in the video you can see, no handed sitting looks harder than no handed standing.

  • Thought this may be useful for those looking to increase their bunnyhop height, ultra ultra slow motion footage of a mega high side-hop, not on fixed the mechanics of the movement and principles are the same on any bike:

  • great thread!

  • Another one for y'all:

  • Nice one James. The run of one handed barspins at the emd is amazing! Talk about getting your balancing point!

  • Tom Mosher rules

  • awesome!

is it the photo or is that fromt tyre MASSIVE!

  • Is it just me or does that look like Mike (I think that's his name) who's just got the BMW in army green?

  • anyone knows how easy it is to get out of straps (powergrips, feetbelts) when falling over the front?

tried some nosewheelies, feels great, think i can make it over a small street.
but its a standard for wheelies: if you dont lean to far sometimes, you will never learn it.

dont want to faceplant because its impossible to get out of straps in that position.

without straps it was no problem to rescue from a to much lean nosewheel.

tell me: no problem, big straps and you will come out without problems
    or
dont try it, you will be fixed in the straps because of foot position.

I was thinking exactly the same!

Depends how quick your reactions are/how good you are at falling, i've been over the bars a few times trying tricks and sometimes i've managed to get both feet out, other times i've just got one out, sometimes the bike comes with me as I go over!
There is quite a high probability your feet or at least one will stay in if you go over, best advice I can give is try and roll to your left or right side if you're going to go over, that way you can try and turn the fall into a shoulder roll, which minimizes the impact on your body.

  • left or right foot? also called chocolate foot.

left foot is myy chocolate foot. always in front. technical power comes from it. also the foot that hits ground first and is always injured.

riding a fixed gear makes u use both feet if you have to.
found this pic and i did not remember that i jumped with the right foot in front. didnt get a flat tire so i made it over the stones ;)

edit: see left foot how hard it trys to get in front
