  • I guess the nearest nocturne to us this year is the Blackpool..we can have a lovely ride there and then go on rollercoasters then watch the rides from 6pm...

"The Blackpool Nocturne will take place on Saturday 1st August 2009 around a spectacular circuit that starts and finishes adjacent Blackpool Tower on the promenade"

might even enter the folding bike race this year (but then i'd have to ride the fucker all the way to blackpool so mebbe not)

  • and anyone entering the support race???

i know you have to be up to a certain category- it says cat 2/3/4 Jason?

would be more fun to watch friends...

  • some of us have work in the morning....am off to bed....did a crazy assembly this morning..if you keep being mean to me I shall get someone to film you singing your fixie song and post it on here...

  • Every first Saturday of the month.. A chance to see your city from a new perspective. A social club. A chance to ride in a world without cars. A party on wheels. A place to network and share ideas. A celebration of the bicycle. An adventure - complete with wizards, beaches and secret trails. A bike ride! All of these things and more, sometimes all at once.

    Saturday 4th April

Meet at 7:30pm leaving at 8pm sharp at the Sandbar on Grosvenor Street.

On this very special festival Moonlight Ride we shall ride 25 miles to Edale where the stars will be twinkling to a camping barn in the hills...it is heated and has bunk beds and costs £8 per person to sleep over.

People that reserve a space will get the beds, others, if we run over, will get the floor!!!

  • Anyone up for this???

The EHBPC committee is excited to announce the registration for the first
ever European Hard-court Bike Polo Championships!

    Registration:

Registration will open on Saturday, April 25 at 12pm GMT. You will be able
to register at www.ehbpc.org. It will cost £60 per team and the fee is
    payable upon registering.

When registering you will be given the option to upload an image or logo
that represents your team, and space to write anything you would like the
rest of Europe to know about your team. Please also let us know if you
would like us to accommodate you. If you are coming with girlfriends,
boyfriends, cheerleaders, kids or your pet monkey please let us know as
    soon as possible.

We will be posting all registered teams on the website as confirmation
that your team is registered and so that Europe can see who is coming to
represent their city in the first of many European Championships!

    The important details:

The tourney will take place over two days on August 1st & 2nd 2009.
We are capping the tourney at 40 teams and registration will be on a first
    come, first serve basis.

In London we are voluntarily capping ourselves at 4 teams. We want to be
able to host teams from all across Europe and because of the limited space
at the tournament we ask that all of the polo communities get coordinated
and limit the registration of each city to four (4) teams (Paris,
Karlsruhe, Berlin we mean you!). We’re excited to play teams that we’ve
never played before as we’re sure you are too. So if your city has more
than 4 fantastic teams please decide within your community which teams
    should represent your city.

We have already heard of cities organising qualifying tournaments to raise
funds for the travel expenses of the winning teams. This is a great idea
and inspiring to hear! Here in London we will have many more people coming
to cheer than to play so if your team doesn’t make the cut make sure to
still come and support your city! With so many courts in London there will
be plenty of throw-ins. Whether you’re competing officially or not you
will get some good polo while you’re here.

We will keep you all updated if space for additional teams becomes
available, however with the popularity of polo in Europe this year, we’re
pretty sure registration will fill up fast so get in there quickly!

    The weekend:

While the tournament itself will be Saturday and Sunday with events in the
evenings there will also be lots to do the Friday and Monday on either
side and we hope you will join us for that. We will update you at the
    website as these plans develop.

The excitement in London towards hosting this first ever tournament is
electric and we can’t wait to have you all here. If you have any
questions, suggestions or the like for us, please feel free to contact
    matt@ehbpc.org

    Cheers,

    The EHBPC London Committee

  • I will definitely be attending, i think a TFU contingent should be present...

shall we have a local tourney to find the 4 best teams to go? if there are more than four teams in mcr that is...

  • yep ill be representing tfu as well (but there is a small chance that ill be in tunisia) otherwise im there!

  • sounds well like a good idea...though tunisia sounds very nice too...

  • Im pretty much definatly gonna be there, £20 a head sounds like alot just to be thrashed by someone from london tho, can do that here in Manc next month...

  • how about thursday woody?

  • hahahahahahhahaaa... i know..i wonder what they are spending it all on?? maybe it will be an AMAZING court

has anyoneone noticed the courts at whalley range school? you can see from the fallowfield loop...they look like big 5 a side courts with wooden sides!!?? they rent space out i think don't they?? shall i enquire?

  • thursday polo? sure

  • cheaper than berlin and this is polo specific. so better deal i reckon.

  • hahahahahahhahaaa... i know..i wonder what they are spending it all on?? maybe it will be an AMAZING court

Weird timing..... I cycled down there on Saturday and thought exactly the same thing...... I bet you could charm a good deal out of the school nes!

  • hey everyone...

please can you let me know if you are able to help out at the opening
party this friday. I need people to be on the door from 730pm to 330am to
take money from people, check guestlists etc.

you can do it in hour long slots. PLEASE ADD YOUR NAME TO THE TIME SLOTS
    ON HERE:

    http://doodle.com/s7ntgczpvtgzpcy6

I have written the timetable below, if you think you are fast enough to be
in the roller race final don't put yourself to do it during that slot.

    Timetable

8pm The Spokes bike dance troupe (only a 5 minute performance, band
start as soon as they have finished)

    8.15pm 7 Hertz

    8.45pm-10.45pm Roller Racing Qualifiers

With 2/3 bands playing during the qualifying (not very competitive racing
at this point- less shouting etc)

    10.45pm-11.30pm Band

    11.30pm-1.30pm Racing heats

    1.30pm-3.30pm 2 bands

  • get off the forum...finish your work then you can come to the tourney and other delights without worries.....get to work!!!!!esp. the team of students.
