What does that mean Hippy? Serious question.

I'm setting it up and wonder why my Calendar shows the 9th when I press "Today".
Seems if I leave it set to Network Provided Date, it shows the date as 9th Sep.
If I turn off Network Provided Date/Time and set the date manually, it's correct.
Odd.

When was your last entry?
I mean calendar entry.
Mine did the same until there was a meeting/event scheduled.

My iPhone shows the continental time when I ask it to set the clock automatically

Only have Android phone. Yes it can do this - in fact it does it automatically. It synchs all google calendars automatically (plus contacts and mail). I have no idea on the iphone sorry.
EDIT: It's also 2 way on all of the above.
Thanks. Any idea of how well it gets on with macs?
Multi Grooves: I just opened the calendar app on my Samsung and it lets you pick and choose which calendars you want to show, just like Google Calendar.
symbian? cos I don't like Symbian at all.

Yeah - I use a mac. You just plug it in.
Depends what you want to do but is recognised in iphoto and itunes etc as an external device - easy.
I did have to download something to get it to auto sycnh with itunes.
EDIT - i think you can do this with bluetooth / wireless too but I find it works best if you plug in.

multigrooves: most of the synching on android is done over the air, you barely need to put it anywhere near a computer (apart from transferring music/movies). mac support is reasonable for that stuff too.
it'll keep your contacts/calendars/email up to date constantly.i find using google to handle contacts is awesome: no risk of losing all your numbers if your phone disappears, and it makes switching phones pretty painless (you can sync google contacts to pretty much any phone).
android is my favouritest.

Anyone here use the Nokia E71? What are they like to use day doy.

The E71 is the best phone Nokia currently sell, by some margin.

• #213
Was thinking of trading in my shite N96 and going for the E71the E75 is also out. Decisions, decisions

I'm also lookin into an E71, was in nokia shop over the wkend and they said e72 is due in october so mght be worth holding on to go top of the range or to save save cash as e71 will probably drop in price when e72 arrives

the e71 is rock solid but fairly boring. can't see why the e72 would be any different. i'm using an N97 at the moment, and i wouldn't recommend it (buggy software fail).
HTC Hero just got a firmware upgrade to make it a bit quicker, so that or the Samsung i7500 are my current picks for "most wanted handset".

Switched to Vodafone in the end. 12months, 900 mins, unlimited texts, £20 per month. Sim-only, though, so no new phones, but i'm pretty happy with my SE C902, so no biggie.

Did I mention I just got one of these bad boys? :) Android is cool.

@Multi_Grooves, without looking back at your post, I think you said you had the Sony-Ericsson Xperia, which runs Windows Mobile 6. Regarding calendars, WM6 probably has more 1st, 2nd and 3rd party apps per type, of all OS's on mobile phones. So you should be able to download different calendars and run them simultaneously.
Does it work with a Mac? I doubt it.
Regarding Android phones - the G1 (T-mobile) has a handy slide-out keyboard, but the most puny and restrictive onboard user memory of any modern multi-use phone. An unbelievable 256k. Thats right, 1/4 of a megabyte! Whereas many phones have gigabytes(!!!) of onboard user memory. The G2 is better, but doesn't have a slide out keyboard, and runs a screen virtual-keyboard, a la iPhone.
The HTC Hero is the same phone as the G2 (T-Mobile).
As far as I know, the Android OS will not easily "talk" to a Mac. Another difference between the G1 and G2, is that the G2 can "tether" and become the modem for a PC/laptop. The G1 can't as standard, but there is an unapproved app that can get this done. Its a bit fiddly though.
I like Android phones. They show a lot of promise. The amount of free useful apps, and playful apps is enough reason to get it. What I don't like, is the tie-in to all things Google, but the iPhone does the same with Apple, and much more expensively.

Remind me and I might come to Wests now that it's finally at a non-shit pub..

I heard the battery life is really bad on those. I am getting frustrated at the shit N series Nokia keeps pushing and am looking to dump mine. For the time being I will o foe an E71 when its contract renewal time then I may succumb to the IPhone unless convinces otherwise and Hippy I don't get along with Samsung phones ;o))
Network provided date 09-09-09??
