Depending on how my parents feel about sacrificing their whole garden for an evening we may even have private bike parking a 5-10 minute walk from the restaurant, I will update on this later :)

Not quite sure yet what I'll be doing that evening, James. I'd love to come and the most likely scenario right now looks as if I might join you later at the restaurant (which I assume would effortlessly cater for vegans). During the daytime, I'll be at this:

Depending on whether a party of riders come together, I'll then either be at a Central London veggie restaurant or able to ride out to join you lot. I'd love to and I'll keep you posted.

Ok guys important updates in the initial post, in order to comply with the wishes of the restaurant owner, he has requested that it has to be 30 people maximum, and because of the size of our group, that we come later in the evening (see original post), so we are confirmed to have tables for up to 30 people if need be.
Also my parents have agreed to sacrifice their garden for the evening! which means we've got somewhere safe to lock the bikes up and leave them without worrying, which is ace, its really close to the restaurant as well (about a 5-10 minute walk) -

Excellent that'd be wicked ollie, they do indeed cater for vegans/veggies, there are plenty of vegetarian and vegan dishes.

If you are not confident controlling your speed downhill there are few surprise terrain changes on this route, one of which is a fairly long hill, so I would recommend fitting a brake if you feel you need to. Needless to say its a really fun route, and apart from one slightly nasty uphill section (made worthwhile by the really long mellow hill on the other side of it) it's really enjoyable.
Going via Chigwell? :)

The later start time suits me, but I'll let you know for definite later.

Yup on the way there we'll probably head down tomswood hill, its a fun little descent before we turn off for my parents house, the best bit is the journey back though, but I don't want to ruin the surprise ;)

Great idea, James. Work permitting I'd love to join. When do you need a definitive answer?
-
• #23
The table/restaurant is booked for 30 people for definite, they just want me to confirm with them in about 3 days time.
-
• #24
hmm i might be up for this not too sure just yet though

i mean i could just eat a better curry at home, free from my mum :)
Before you read any further, please note the date may be subject to change due to the restaurants capacity and me fully intending to nearly max it out!
Anyhow, this ride does exactly what it says on the tin it will be a 08:00pm meeting time at Brick Lane by the verge bar (at the top of the shoreditch end on the corner) and we will be leaving at 8:15pm to get to the restaurant with plenty of time. It starts with a 9-10 mile ride from Shoreditch to one of my all time favourite curry-houses just inside Essex, where we will be consuming awesome amounts of food, and of course Indian beer!
The restaurant is booked for 9:45pm so this gives us time to park and lock the bikes in my parents garden, and walk down to the restaurant (about 5-10 minutes)
Once we have finished eating/drinking we will be heading back into East London via a slightly different route, which leads me to a very important point.....
Brakeless riders be warned!

Needless to say its a really fun route, and apart from one slightly nasty uphill section (made worthwhile by the really long mellow hill on the other side of it) it's really enjoyable.
I plan for it to be a medium paced ride, although it will no doubt be a slow pace on the way back after all the curry and beer!
Due to the size of the restaurant and some of the roads we will be riding on, I plan on capping this at 30 riders.
