  • reading the 'whats your top speed' thread i see quite a few responses along the lines of top speed being irrelevant, its the average that counts so i thought this was worth its own thread. whats your average, over what distance, and in or out of town? my average on my 7 mile commute, reasonably flat but with 1 steep bugger of a hill in the middle, is around 12.8mph on 34/15 gearing. thats a (pretty dissapointing!) average cadence of abont 85rpm i think. what is anyone elses?

  • mines areoung 5 mph on flat ground commute of 10 meters

  • 1,000,000mph

  • ignore test....

  • At the moment, I'm averaging 0mph.

  • 1,000,000mph

i always thought you were, slow, now i know for sure.

having said that mine's 999,999.9mph so i guess you win (slightly)

    YES I win!!

  • At the moment, I'm averaging 0mph.

what about your left hand under the table?

  • 16-18mph on my 1.83miles morning commute, depends how tired I feel when I wake up. On my Old commute in from Barkingside to shoreditch (about 9 miles) I used to average around 15mph.

  • About 7.3 × 10^-5 rad/s

  • I'm always travelling 1mph faster than Hillbilly

  • Hillbilly accelerates faster than me, but I have a higher terminal velocity, so it depends on distance, traffic lights, and pedestrians.

  • 16.4 over 20miles of norf and east Lahndan just now including a break to be sick at the top of highgate hill (nearly).

46:16.....not for the steep ones, spesh with unavoidable traffic lights

  • Bikeradar called and wants it's thread back

  • Everyone else who has ever made that joke called.. They want their joke back

  • It's one use only, use it and pass it along

  • 300,000,000 metres per second

Highgate Hill is easy. The only reason to be sick at the top is by drinking far to much at North Drinks.

  • Not fast enough. It's never fast enough.

It's a friggin grind, especially if you get stuck at the traffic lights.

And after holloway rd with a bleedin headwind all the way.

    That's my excuse.

Considering 70gi for my new build.

  • On my 3 mile commute this morning, my average heart rate was 125 bpm maxing at 144 bpm. My max speed was 23.9 mph but my average, due to traffic, was a miserable 10.53 mph.

Holloway road is better now. Reserfaced the top bit. I know what you mean about the headwind though. Dose my head in. That is one thing I like about climbing. The hill shelters you from the headwind untill you get to the top.

  • 17.3mph on my 15 mile each way on a mixture of flat/hills on 46:16

    Toodle pip

Damn straight, headwinds are the breath of satan. I remember riding 40 miles across norfolk once into the most amazing constant debilitating headwind ever. After about a couple of hours I didn't know whether to cry or kill someone.

At least with hills you know there's an end to the pain! ;)
