Headset problem

Posted on
  • Need a new headset - 1" threaded for an Argos time trial frame I have. The problem I have is that the current fucked headset has a 32mm stack height (according to my LBS) and they tell me that they are going to struggle to get hold of one of these, and have suggested I look online.

I can't seem to find anything with such a short stack height. There are plenty of dura ace headsets around, but these have a 37.6mm stack height.

Will this work, or is my fork steerer going to be too short?

If I really do need to find a 32mm stack height to replace, does anyone know of any solutions - I'd rather not have to resort to getting something out of the US.

Thanks, and apologies for my ignorance.

Described as a "durable, budget headset", so not sure if that's quite what you had in mind...

  • I'd seen that - ideally I'm after something of better quality. But I suppose if there are no alternatives, it will have to do.

  • I've been doing some googling - will a Chris King Grip Nut do the trick?

It's a fair bit of money to spend if it's going to be wrong...

  • Just an idea, it will not give you much but if you get you head tube faced that may give you a mm or so to allow you to use a 33 mm stack height headset allowing you to get away with the CK posted by willo

  • yea i think you might just be able to get a away with the GripNut Chris King headset, go to your local LBS and ask them what they reckon
