-
• #3
Its all about the money Eddie .
-
• #4
so how many teams are we putting down or is it still going to be just the one ???
-
• #5
i reacon we can put down two...with a bit of (money) effort
-

Idea:
If you want to play in our mini league to qualify for the single place in the europeans, you donate money into the polo fund, which over 5 teams of 3 (15 players) is £4 per player.
easy peasy.

I'm pretty sure sure Roxy said only 1 team from Cambridge as London is only doing 4 and every team in Europe will be there as well so it would be pushing our luck to put in 2 but they don't say we can't ..........yeah the 60 quid is not an issue it's just fuckin money .

Yeah, I read that a couple of days ago. It seems the London folk are trying real hard to keep everyone happy. Tough job, I guess.
I'm also quite excited about the whole thing (the tournament, not the arguing).

So, registration for this is at midday tomorrow. This sucks because at that time I will be in a church watching my brother get married.
I suggest we think real hard about how this is going to work. I'm guessing 2 teams. £60 per team. £20 per person etc. The problem I guess is how we are going to pay. I know I will put in £20 no matter what and if I play then awesome, if not then who cares, at least cambridge even have teams entered.
What do people think?
-
• #21
sounds good, do we enter 2 teams?
-
• #22
I think two is good. Four is the limit but that would be taking the piss.
Basically, is anyone down with chipping in? Maybe someone with a card can get money off people tonight, tomorrow? Greg, can you chuck in for me (out of rent money....!)?
-
• #23
Yeah I think we should go with 2 teams- I have zero expectations of actually competing but am more than happy to throw a tenner in for the cause! I am not going to be around for polo this Sunday (which is a shame cos I want to see Angelos lovely new wheel fold!) but can bring the money on Tuesday night or Thursday.
-
• #24
i'd like to throw a 20 in :)

Ok, so money isn't going to be a problem but does anyone want to volunteer to register the teams?
I got this e-mail today....................
Dear Poloistas,
The EHBPC committee is excited to announce the registration for the first
ever European Hard-court Bike Polo Championships!
Registration:
Registration will open on Saturday, April 25 at 12pm GMT. You will be able
to register at www.ehbpc.org. It will cost £60 per team and the fee is
payable upon registering.
When registering you will be given the option to upload an image or logo
that represents your team, and space to write anything you would like the
rest of Europe to know about your team. Please also let us know if you
would like us to accommodate you. If you are coming with girlfriends,
boyfriends, cheerleaders, kids or your pet monkey please let us know as
soon as possible.
We will be posting all registered teams on the website as confirmation
that your team is registered and so that Europe can see who is coming to
represent their city in the first of many European Championships!
The important details:
The tourney will take place over two days on August 1st & 2nd 2009.
We are capping the tourney at 40 teams and registration will be on a first
come, first serve basis.
In London we are voluntarily capping ourselves at 4 teams. We want to be
able to host teams from all across Europe and because of the limited space
at the tournament we ask that all of the polo communities get coordinated
and limit the registration of each city to four (4) teams (Paris,
Karlsruhe, Berlin we mean you!). We’re excited to play teams that we’ve
never played before as we’re sure you are too. So if your city has more
than 4 fantastic teams please decide within your community which teams
should represent your city.
We have already heard of cities organising qualifying tournaments to raise
funds for the travel expenses of the winning teams. This is a great idea
and inspiring to hear! Here in London we will have many more people coming
to cheer than to play so if your team doesn’t make the cut make sure to
still come and support your city! With so many courts in London there will
be plenty of throw-ins. Whether you’re competing officially or not you
will get some good polo while you’re here.
We will keep you all updated if space for additional teams becomes
available, however with the popularity of polo in Europe this year, we’re
pretty sure registration will fill up fast so get in there quickly!
The weekend:
While the tournament itself will be Saturday and Sunday with events in the
evenings there will also be lots to do the Friday and Monday on either
side and we hope you will join us for that. We will update you at the
website as these plans develop.
The excitement in London towards hosting this first ever tournament is
electric and we can’t wait to have you all here. If you have any
questions, suggestions or the like for us, please feel free to contact
matt@ehbpc.org
Cheers,
The EHBPC London Committee
