2009-04-16 Thu - The Pussy Cat Ride - Celebrating Cyclodelic's Success

Two very good friends of mine (Amy and Sarah) who design ACE womens cycle accessories are now launching at Topshop. Say what you must about selling out, I am super stoked for them, they're talented and worked hard since 2005 to get a range of cool stuff together.

They sent this along to me, and I thought some of you might like to come with.. it's primarily for women, but the boys can certainly come along...although I do believe one of the checkpoints will require you to wear lippy.(i know you are all way to metrosexual to mind that!)

Like I said in the title there's Champagne, dressing up (for prizes) and riding bikes..which basically equates to a very good Thursday night anyone fancy coming with?

To celebrate the TopShop launch Cyclodelic is staging the Cyclodelic Champagne Bicycle Treasure Hunt on Thursday 16 April 7pm starting from Middleton Place W1 – hopefully taking advantage of the longer hours of light and mild spring weather. Come alone or bring friends and we will enter you in a team to take part in the social and leisurely affair around West 1. Dispel any notions of a traditional treasure hunt or racing through London – you will be asked to pass through a number of checkpoints that will demand intake of champagne, the completion of creative tasks, and spotting a number of dressed up characters for extra points before finishing at the post ride party at a secret location.

The treasure hunt is female focused but not exclusive to women, but we ask participants to come along in their most stylish outfits. Prizes of Cyclodelic products will be awarded in the following categories

Most stylish attire
Most creative completion of assignments
Most dashing hat or helmet

This is good news - if Topshop of all places (somewhere I am usually repulsed by ;-) )is doing this it will hopefully raise even further an awareness of the importance of the bicycle in modern society - I know this is just about current trends, not pro-cycling campaigns, but the potential positive 'side-benefits' of projects such as these are great. Yeah, why separate the two?

Cycling needs to be built into your lifestyle--just like into that of most of the people on here. It's not just a mechanical conveyance and convenience, it's a cultural phenomenon of far greater social importance than its 'naked utility'. It's no accident that it's often voted in as the best invention ever--that's not just manipulation by cycling web fora (as is sometimes claimed) but a genuine reflection of its importance. This is another step, so well done to all who are making it happen.

I bought my better half one of Amy's lovely cycling capes. Beautiful and such high quality.
I'm genuinely delighted that the Topshop concession will get her stuff out there into the general populace.

I'm totally down with this. I hope it's warm though, if I'm going to be dressing up nice. I'm thinking a cape and riding crop.

Good work. So many people complain about the lack of womens cycling clothing. There are many women I know who are put off cycling due to the lack of sensible stylish clothing that works on a bike.

Hope this goes really well. Will definitely be sending links for this to a few friends. One question, will they diversify into menswear later?

No, I dont think it was and I didn't name it. - in fact I believe they are simply calling it the Champagne Treasure Hunt. (twas "pussy cat ride" in some of the discussions) oops.
HOWEVER regardless of the name it is a chance to dress up nice, drink champagne and congratulate two really COOL girls on their success.
