  • saturday's financial times magazine ran a list of sports and the number of positive doping tests per 1000 tests. cycling came in way down the list. apparently welsh rugby union is rife at the moment ( wouldn't you?) worth checking the list out. athletics also came well below a lot of other sports. if memory serves me right..wrestling was way high.

  • Wait till they start testing at roller races...

  • none of those guys looked like they coukld afford drugs ! cider maybe

  • Snooker?

  • Bodybuilders take drugs?

Oh pull the other one - you're having a bubble, mate.

  • surprised not to see football on there. weren't chelsea linked to the Puerto affair?

and lots of italian ex-pro's don't get to see their grandchildren.

  • yeah snooker!!!!????

and football for sure must be riddled. the richest sportsmen in the world apart from americans and they play loads of games within a short space of time......hhhhmmmmmm

  • bodybuilders and wrestlers are on roids, snooker players are on gak, is the only reason cycling is coming in low now because the testing is so strict these days?

  • snooker - it is well documented that a lot of players like to chalk their noses

  • snooker players usually get done for taking things to calm them down, like beta blockers and similar products. and basketballers have a high percentage of positive tests for marijuana!

  • tom_d, you would thank that and many have. but as rpm said, gak is often associated with snooker

  • notice that i read the financial times! ;)

  • The UK sport website is pretty good for showing positive tests in a wide range of sports

    http://www.uksport.gov.uk/pages/drug_free_sport/

edit: just clicked the FT link and realised they got all the info off UK sport, duh....

That's crazy - you'd have thought that what with sitting around for a few hours in front of a crowd of people staring at you, with nearly nothing to do or say for all that time, that coke would be the last thing to take. Yuck

  • Do Formula One drivers get tested?

  • they need to be sharp and alert though. ecstasy would be a bad move for sure lol.

  • snooker has become a horrible staid affair lacking characters. rocket o'sullivan. come on. bring back kirk stevens, bill wobernuiuiuiuik and the hurrican higgins. boozing and binging their way back to baulk. yee haw.

ps - i know they are probably all dead but couldn't help a little rush of nostalgia. maybe i should lay off the crack ;)

  • Jimmy White FTW!

  • snooker players usually get done for taking things to calm them down, like beta blockers and similar products. and basketballers have a high percentage of positive tests for marijuana!

That makes sense, when I used to bother playing mega competitively my major problem was that I started getting stressed, then I got the shakes and then you can't cue properly.

  • fuckin mashed

  • Football was indeed named in the Operation Puerto affair, but it was only cyclists who were named and shamed, and even that was without a trial. As soon as Spanish football was even hinted at being involved, the judges responsible closed the books on the case, and even now they block all attempts to open the case back up. Conspiracy? I think so. Cycling has fuck all money in it compared to the big bucks of footie. If drug testing was in any way effective in the world of football, how come the players don't get caught for all the coke they take? A mate of mine hangs out with some premiership players, and they are all bang on it!

I'm don't know much about football but I was having a conversation about drugs in sport with a mate of mine and he was saying how lax the drug testing in football is. Irregular and you nearly get written warnings when it does happen and it's easy to delay e.t.c.

  • It's a fucking scandal - and then all my football mates do nothing but slate the Tour de France when it's on! 'Bunch of junkies, cheats, etc...' Pisses me right off. There are drugs in cycling, but at least it's trying to sort it's shit out, unlike many other sports. A really bad one is golf. Absolutely riddled with drug use, but refuses to test because it claims it's not happening. Steroids are at the top of the list, and that comes from no lesser light than Gary Player!

  • Whats gak?

...and where can i get some?
