Good on Cav for starting the long, hard road towards making the British media realise how important the Classics are. They won't get it until quite a few wins down the line, so be patient for now. :)
As discussed elsewhere, it's still a shame that Haussler couldn't complete it. But he'll be back. He's excellent this season and finally able to ride more for himself, despite Hushovd being in the race.

Right on the line. Absolute fucking hero!

even more remarkable is our last winner Tom Simpson did it back in 1964 five minutes faster riding on amphetamines!
You can't really judge races year to year since the course is different and tactics are different depending on who is riding and of course the riders might be somewhat cleaner at the moment. :)

Some people are "all fart no poo"
Cav is not. He is shitting his way to becoming a cycling legend.

You obviously haven't heard him speak. He's definitely not German.

'Pissed' or 'pissed off'?
***Q: ** Were you frustrated by some riders saying you could not do it, because you are not a strong climber?
**MC: ** "Yes. Absolutely. I knew that is what they were saying. Tom Boonen said I am always dropped when the road go up. In Tirreno, I only got dropped once. The sweet thing was to win, but the second sweetest thing was to see Tom Boonen pass me backwards on the climbs."*he will definitely be pissed off :-)

Cav just better not peak too early. Don't want him firing all his loads before the chance to score the snot jersey.

Shocking BBC piece though.
"Cavendish is the second British rider to win cycling's premier one-day race" - because Roubaix doesn't exist.
"Lance Armstrong... faded out of contention on an uphill climb" - as opposed to all of those downhill ascents that we know and love.

there is something nice about dutch cycling commentary, i feel so relaxed after listening to it!!!!!
great news again today for British cycle sport but largely ignored by our media is that Mark Cavendish scored his first classic win today being the Milan - San Remo in 6.42.45, even more remarkable is our last winner Tom Simpson did it back in 1964 five minutes faster riding on steel!
