New Wheels

  • I've been riding some brand new hand built wheels (system ex hubs, cxp33 rims) for a few days now, put about 30 miles on them and just noticed they're already a couple mm out of true. I haven't been riding them hard at all and wondered if this was normal?

  • Yep. Everythings bedding in... Did you buy them from a shop? They should have told you it's to be expected and for you to come back and they'll give em a tweak up.

  • Cheers Fat Pants. At least I know i'm not doing something dumb. I'll take them back to London Fields at the end of next week. Do you reckon 100 miles is too much on new slightly untrue wheels or will it be cool?

  • take them back sooner - they are likely to get worse if you don't.

  • Nah - put 300-500 miles on them first. You need 2 weeks' mileage before the first tweak.

  • ok - I'll concede to bumf, that makes sense.
I would keep a close eye on them.

  • Cool, i'll drop them back into the shop in a fortnight (with 250ish miles on them). Cheers guys.
