Oxford to portsmouth ride anyone?

If you use a normal bike and set off in the wrong direction an hour or so early you can do a huge loop travel 3 times the distance or more and still arrive on time...
that says alot about the readership of the independant...

@comradekaff:Muswell Hill on 46x18/17 fixed - sub 1min30
Descending into Brighton (before it gets too built up) on 46x18 - 40mph
80 miles of South Downs Way (offroad) on 39x16 fixed - about 10 hours
And I don't even have a racing licence. You need to HTFU :)
Glad we don't have people like this on here. :)

The Independent is truly awful these days. And their subeditor needs dismissing immediately, for the completely irrelevant title.
Though I appreciate they probably had some difficulty seeing as a headline along the lines of 'buy a fixed bike, they are fashionable and you will feel like a hipster' in the green living section may not have been deemed totally appropriate.

I used my eyes and brain to read some of those comments and they made me emit a laughing noise with involuntary use of my vocal chords

And he's done it before, on the TfL forum as BringMeMyOyster. A grand internet moment that was.

"There are a lot of so-called cyclists riding on new fixie bikes that don't have brakes. The riders are a threat to the public and themselves and some of them have bright pink bikes that are an eyesore."
