I watched it in The Curzon Soho with a load of poshos sat behind me. Literally laughing every 30secs for some strange reason....
Halfway through I turned round to them and said "I'd hate to be sat in front of you lot while watching a comedy!"

Grizzly Man is a damn good film; it's well made and memorable. The guy was a bit of a looney, but haven't his techniques recently been practised by some more 'legitimate' wildlife film crews?
Unfortunately we all knew what was going to happen to him - the bit where they play the audio of his demise is much more shocking than any gore-fest could be.
A really sad film, but a good one.
Not one I'd like to see in a cinema with a bunch of guffawing rah's sitting behind me either! -

A really sad film, but a good one.See, that's the bit that I never saw/heard - remember reading the reviews before going to see it about "the audio recording of him been eaten is chilling" etc. Watched the whole film obviously and never heard it, sat through the credits and never heard it, waited around 5mins after the credits and never heard it.....was it all just a ploy to get you in to see it?
I remember the fella listening to it on the headphones while some woman sat watching him crying while he winced and kept saying "Oh my God, you don't wanna hear this", but was that it? -

What do they expect? Bloody hippies

I'm happy when idoits get killed... One less idoit!!

The thing is though, the more time the fella spent with them the more he treated them as his 'friends' and almost morphed into teddy bears. The whole fact that they could rip his face off with one swipe became became irrelevant(to him atleast)

From wikipedia..
"The film refers to an audio recording of the fatal attack, captured by Treadwell's video camera, and although Herzog is shown listening to it on earphones clearly disturbed, it is not played in the film. In fact, Herzog advises the owner of the tape, Jewel Palovak, an ex-girlfriend and close working associate of Treadwell who held onto the tape but refused to ever listen to it, to destroy it immediately." -

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlie_Russell, and corresponded with Timothy Treadwell, wrote of Herzog:
[INDENT] "Herzog is a skillful filmmaker so a large percentage of those who watch the movie Grizzly Man, overlook Timothy's amazing way with animals even though to me this stands out very strongly. The fact that Timothy spent an incredible 35000 hours, spanning 13 years, living with the bears in Katmai National Park, without any previous mishap, escapes people completely. Even with his city-kid background, I found myself mesmerized by what he could do with animals. Most people now see him only the way Herzog skillfully wanted his audience to see him; as an idiot who continually "crossed nature's line," what ever that means. Perhaps, in his mind, nature’s line is something behind which bears and other nasty things reside who will inevitably kill you if you go there without a gun. He takes everything Timothy stood for and turned it 180°, the result which he then weaves into his own unsophisticated agenda."[5]

I thought it was a pretty dull and tendentious film. BUT, if you watch the bonus feature about the film's music there is some beautiful stuff with Richard Thompson on there.

Maybe his actions were misguided, but he wasn't an idiot. He lived a life that seemed to have brought him much happiness, who doesn't want that?

*And what haunts me, is that in all the faces of all the bears that Treadwell ever filmed, I discover no kinship, no understanding, no mercy. I see only the overwhelming indifference of nature. To me, there is no such thing as a secret world of the bears. And this blank stare speaks only of a half-bored interest in food.
*
That was the killer line for me. Definitely not a barrel of laughs, but I didn't think that Herzog was particularly unkind to Treadwell. -
