  • just got home, rode back north side of the river along from cheyne walk past chelsea bridge and between there and vauxhall bridge police had sealed off the whole road.

up on pavement I saw the remnants of a scooter, but worringly a few metres away was a very mangled road bike. multi lumou coloured frame, pink/yellow I think, looked like white grip pursuit bars, couldn't see much else as was partially covered.

ambulances had been and gone I assume, hope all concerned pull through ok.

  • Hope everyone involved is ok, maybe someone will have more info tomorrow, Oliver?

  • We've got no info on this one. Which side of the road and whereabouts was it? I hope they're ok.

  • Wow, I live right near there, cycle that stretch twice a day, I didn't see anything, but I think I got back a bit earlier. You get given so little space along Grosvenor Road, and once people clear the speed camera at the vauxhall bridge end, they think it's a drag strip.

Hope all are ok, if I come across more details I'll post them.

  • This road is crying out for some speed restrictions.

  • well the accident was on the west bound side of grovesnor rd (closest to river), heading towards where the railway bridge crosses over.

I rode past around 1050, so perhaps happened 50 mins previously? all people were gone, just police protecting the scene and diverting traffic.

  • Saw the police after this and they said the cyclist was alive but the biker died rip - hate riding along that stretch

  • not nice.

+1s, a quietly dangerous bit of London road.

  • RIP i hate reading threads like this

  • Fucking awful, my sadness and grief for all involved. Accidents seem to be happening more and more frequently.

  • I think it's the spring. you get a lot of new cyclists both motor and pedal - plus the ones who laid their bikes up for the winter and are now dusting them off for the dry weather and wobbling back out onto the streets. We all need to be extra careful around this time of year. I had some idiot nearly back into me as I was passing because he couldn't get down the gap he'd chosen!

Mind you it's pedestrians too. I saw 2 bikes near the Tower of London helping a hobbling ped to a seat - my guess is that he stepped right off the pavement into one of them and got his foot run over.

Fk really. Shit, the motorbike did look pretty bad....

I cycle that way twice daily on my commute, making me think twice about it, perhaps should go via 9 Elms.

    By a Steamroller ?

  • Blimey, are we talking Chelsea Embankment here? I ride it all the way from Earls Court, but was a commuter on fri due to work training. Is there a safer way ?

  • i saw an ambulance, and someone sat on pavement recieveing medical attention at the top of beaufort street where it meets battersea bridge/chelsea embankment, donno if it was a cyclist or ped rta, didn't get a look as i was about to be flattened by a mincab who wanted to get to the queue of traffic ahead before me...
