You need a quill seatpost fiddy.
There was NOS American Classic one on US ebay a couple of months back for $60ish. -

Looks like his prices have gone up despite not selling it!

Mine is the same. I've used a standard clamp for the time being. I contacted the seller Prav links to above and he will post to the UK but my seat tube seems to be 27.0 mm so that post won't fit. I'm keeping an eye out for one but doubt I'll ever find one.

If you wait a few weeks you can nick one off fiddy.

Good thinking, I'll distract him with a beer and before he knows his seatpost will be gone. :-)

create your own quill seat post. can't be that hard.

just glue one in :)

I need a 26.8, but have a 27mm Campag, so will patiently sand until it sits at the right height. My weight should then theoretically jam it in place.

Can go down to my strange local bike shop - they might have an aero campy seat post which is 26.8 want me to look?

from what i've found, selcof made some expanding seatposts as did a company called atax.
i also came across this method of making your own 26.8 expanding seatpost, which could very well work.
i'll keep looking as this is quite an interesting topic.

That's a good link, thank you. I want to fit an aero post however, which means that the clamp is placed behind the seat tube vertically, so this would not work.

Get a bmx pivotal stubby, cut it at an angle, put a normal quill stem bolt and wedge in, et viola!
Makes bmx's look super clean, cut the top of the frame off!

...but will look shit on a road bike.

i don't get this.
i've never tried this but i guess you would want to insert the post into the tube and then fasten it by thighhten the bolt. but how do you access the bolt when the post is in the tube. it looks like you can only thighten it from the bottom of the post which would be deep inside the seattube. afaik.
i missed something. i know. but what...?

i'm thinking the same thing

On the bike he is fitting it to, a Mecacycle Turbo, the seat tube is split lower down, with an access point to allow tightening of the post - the frame is designed to run an expander post:
"Thanks to the help of the internet and all the old bike nerds that are plugged into it, I learned this is an early Mecacycle Turbo, made in St. Eteinne, France. Obviously, one of the most unique features of the frame being the Vitus fork blades incorporated into the "seat-tube" so the wheel can set as far forward as possible. For a 59cm frame, this makes the stays almost comically short. The fork uses the same blades and provides some appealing continuity from front to back."

Not sure about aero posts but I know that there was a durace and campagnolo super record version of the quill posts. I have a Moser Leader Ax and it has a Titec quill post in it (plus I have a spare no-name post as well). There must have been a lot of manufacturers out there who were keen for the look. For aero you could always carbon wrap an alloy post?

Campag super record above, dodgy duraace below
Just got a Moser frame and there doesn't seem to be a way of tightening the seatpost. I suppose a clamp might work, but I'm wary if there's an alternative. Do Mosers have their own proprietory seatposts? The frame is steel with no groove.
