Fixed Gear riders more intelligent than MTB'ers ?

Posted on
  • Ive been through a variety of bike forums over the past couple years to suit my various bike interests. But LFGSS is really so much more than somewhere to discuss skid patches. Even though im not a local, ive really enjoyed the refreshing intelligent yet never too serious discussions and witty/crude humour.

Its been really surprising the high concentration of clever/funny/talented people here. Are they all really connected merely by an interest in fixed wheel bikes or is it a London thing?

Anyhow, I was just on a mtb forum I used to frequent. And I was immediately reminded how moronic some people can be.

Anyhow, well done you enlightened folk, your a nice (not ignorant) bunch.

  • I don't know, when I visited other fixed gear forum, like the SF one, quite a handful of people seemed to behave like a teenagers (probably are actually) speaking in rapper lingo (or whatever it suppose to be like).

I think the LFGSS is just the expection that all, maybe like the difference between a car forum that's focus on modified Vauxhall Corsa talking about their astounding feat of making it go 6mph faster and sound like a Porsche that went through an blender before breaking down somewhere outside Cobham, and a car forum that focus on beautiful classic italian steed on whether it's authentic, hand-made and reliable?

oh, can't see the downhill forum.

  • is it possibly due to the location of the members?

  • I'm a member of Southern Downhill as, well, I ride downhill. To be honest once I got to the end of the first page and saw how many more pages there were I just stopped reading and came back here.

Let's be honest - DH is a lot more 'balls out' than road cycling, so you'd expect a DH forum to have more meatheads who aren't quite as self-aware and enlightened as people on here. An XC forum might be a good middle ground.

At least it's not C+ - sorry - BikeRadar. That place seems to be full of commuting Colin Hunts...

  • You think there is a "high concentration of clever/funny/talented people hereon this forum"!?

    I pity you.

"why we protected them i dont know, should have let the troops open fire on them..."

"i woulda just thrown bricks tbh."

"ct the lot of them! if i was there, i woulda tried giving them a kicking aswell.
i love how the police protect them, f
k it, if they're saying that about out troops, beat the s**t outta them."

"the f'ing extremists that grace their ranks, of which some of their pastimes include flying planes into buildings and blowing themselves up. I really don't know what I'm getting at, but if you don't think those bellends were out of order I think its pretty safe to say your, and I don't want to be offensive, but you know, abit of a t**t? But I'd hazard a guess that your not very patriotic,"

Downhill is an extreme sport. If you live the extreme life style you need extreme views to go with it.

There is always room for you in TheBrick's tent.

  • no. i don't think so. there are stupid people everywhere.
i would say that that car drivers are less intelligent than cyclists.
but it's just a theory with no statistical or research evidence to back up with so it's not really a valid opinion.

  • I think..(straight up) there are enough mature, strong and smart characters on here to nip that gansta/agro shit in the bud. if you were to look at the average age, income and occupation of those who write the most shit on here you'll find they have no reason for prejudice and narrow mindedness

It's got nowt to do with the bikes. i am a prize cunt on so many other forums...

  • muslim downhill extreme cyclists

Either, train or drive or hire a mini bus or hot air balloon. Probably hot air balloon.
