Sound like a sealed hub and the axle needs to be hit out. If the pics are too big can you link to them.

Yes, this has sealed cartridge bearings. You need to support the hub from the drive side and knock the axle with a hammer, that should drive the bearing out from within the ratchet taking the axle with it. To refit (new perhaps?) cartridges, you make be in the shit if its a 14mm axle as the axle wont fit through a 1/2" socket driver. Typically refit cartridge bearings with a socket bit that has the same outside diameter as the bearing.
Make sure you remove that locknut first though!
I'm trying to dismantle an bmx hub. I have taken all the stuff around the hub off and now I am just left with the hub and axle. The problem is I can't seperate them to clean the bearings. I have tryed hitting it with a hammer but it won't budge and I scared of damaging it. Any advice for getting it out.
Some pictures of both sides of the hub
thanks
