Aslong as its a fine grade it will be fine. Grit blast not sand. I did my 753 frame and its fine.

Why not nitromors then take it to your powdercoater and get it coated.
Don't get the automotive nitromors, get the general diy stuff, iv found it works a lot faster. -

I have exactly the same construction frame that i need to clean, here is Reynolds answer:
"653 was a very thin main tube set. However if only fine medium is used just to clean off paint, then should be no problem"
and actually they got got back to me with an answer within about 10 minutes.... refreshingly good service.....

Personally i'd ask whoevers blasting to use a bead as it's less abrasive, but will clean any shite away.

Nut blasting is a very soft medium. Just enough to get paint off.

Try googling chemiclean.
Its a chemical strippers and they have them all over the country. My local one (in swindon) charges £15.00 to strip a frame and fork.

Does anyone know a good value place to get shot blasting and powder coating done in the london area? Thanks
So Ive got a reynolds 653 frame which could do with cleaning up and painting. But I hate the long process of paint strippers and sandpaper and also have a super cheap powdercoaters nearby.
Ive vaguely remember hearing various things about some of the lighter reynolds tubes being too thin to shot blast. Would this be the case with 653? Ive had a search about the net and cant quite seem to find anything.
I dont have any more 'delicate' options such as bead blasting to hand, would be way over the value of the frame to do. So if its not blast & coat. It'll be many hours with nitromors, sandpaper & rattle cans.
