If you just want to know any new options then check the OTP list.
- Ash (Ga2g) keeps them nicely up to date.

There's a Condor Pista for 340 in the classified section, why don't you check there first?
I think it might be hard to find a brand new bike for that price range you mentioned with the recession at the moment.

Yeah had a look at that, a little small for me.
Maybe back to the old fuji!
Cheers guys.
Actually do BLB still do their own brand frames??
-
• #5
yeah, but they start at like 500...
if you want to get a bike put together, it would be really, really easy to do on that budget, and get some rather nice bits on it too. I'm up for giving you a hand.

There is a ready made bike at 14 for £350 I think. Looked nice. More of a shop assembled rather than an OTP. Go and have a look.

£350? I think you can put a bike together at that budget which easily surpasses in quality. I put a bike (with carbon forks, Sugino chainset, decent wheelset and good quality finishing kit) together for £350-380 that is easily good enough for the track (and will be).

Yeah i do mind putting my own together, i am just a bit well.....shit!
ok, so if i was to do this what frame and basic parts would you recommend me starting with? and where to get them from? would rather get them in a shop so i can have a proper gander first.
and cheers for the offer of help, you will certainly live to regret that!

Opposite ad agency Wieden + Kennedy, off Brick Lane, up the road from BLB.

Ah yeah i know the place, might go check it out, but might have a look at building my own now ive got the idea in my head.
Just trying to work out how to start!

Any more infromation on frames and other bits that my budget will allow?
thank you again!
-
• #17
sorry as described a couple of posts before, would like to build one up myself now.
Cheers.

About the cheapest new frame is a Dolan track frame for £117 from Ribble Cycles (not inc Fork).
-
• #19
yeah saw that one, dont really mind if its not a true track frame. i could probably stretch to 180 for the frame?
-

Sorry Beefy, am a little sleepy in the brainy today
-
• #21
thats ok! i am welcoming any advice i can get, if things prove too hard i might have to go OTP. Really need to put something together soon, riding the bus everyone mornig has turned me into a broken man
-

You will maximise your value for money if you go OTP, but the satisfaction of building your own thing is special. I went OTP then changed a few bits and bobs to stamp a bit of me on the bike.
-
• #23
I would think it would be hard to hit £350 if paying £180 for the frame + Fork?
Wheels (£100), chainset/BB (£70) and you are already there with no spare £ for tyres/tubes, seat, seatpost, bars, bartape/grips, stem, brake (if you need one).
Soon mounts up when building your own and difficult to beat price of OTP (even if you do get to choose each part)

I spent £80 on a frame and my build came in at just under £400, all those little bits add up.
-

So maybe if i went for a frame off ebay or on here second hand, then maybe i could keep it to 350, and maybe swap out some more bits once ive earnt some more cash?
My old fuji track got nicked the other day,
got the insurance lot to pay out, and i got a little bit to spend off my own..
Trying to keep it 350 - 400.
Would go get another fuji track but wanted to see if there was anything new knocking about in my price range.
Cheers.
