Attaching stuff in pms

Hi sorry if this has come up before..

I'd like to send some people a list of records I'm selling. At the moment it's in Word and I'd liek to attach it as a document if possible.

Can this be done in private messages? It doesn't seem to contain the normal attchment fields, photos included.

Wouldn't it be easier to use your ordinary e-mail? You'd have done it by now...

true, but i guess it's more about whether people want use their email addresses though. I don't think everyone opts for it and I don't always want to send it via mine for the normal reasons.

but on top of that it doesn't work via the forum as far as I can see. the attachment options aren't there.

Is the formatting important in any way?

If not, just cut and paste into the body of the PM. Ctrl+A in Word, Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V in the PM compose window.

Then again, the formatting might actually be transferred even so.

the formatting's important as it's nicely ordered details of records in columns...

but this doesn't have to be a specific question, it's quite a good general one too. it would be good to be able to pm someone a message containing attachments if possible.

You could always send it as a tab-delimited text file. :)

So VB any chance of enabling this somehow? I need to send an attchment to a couple of people at the moment.. would also be good for itineraries etc. at a later date

There is no enable button. PM's in vBulletin don't have attachments.

I'll look to see if someone has a hack for it though, but be warned that as it won't be core vBulletin code I cannot guarantee that attachments remain private. (By this I mean that the attachment system hasn't been designed to be private and so it may be possible to access attachments even though the PM itself isn't accessible.)
