Rubinos? the have a black strip, about £15

found a pair of zaffiro pro's on the bay for £27.50 deivered....better than rubinos?

you want the Dia-Compe Gran Compe SS Tyre, a bit more pricey but they look the biz.

@ Marcus: depends if you want the black stripe or not - rubinos are the better tyre technically but they have a black stripe.

The Gran Compes have not had a good time on London's roads and cost a bomb. I.e. I'm trying to say they're not very good.

How do the zaffiro pro's compare? Are they a good tyre?

I have two pairs:

all white rubino pros folders 700 x 23

rubinos in white with black sidewall - wire bead - 700x25

little used, although they are sufficiently discoloured now.

I'm well into my rubino, ridden through glass and never punctures.

I have a zaffiro on the back, it seems great. Now all I need to do is track down a white 650c for the front. Easier said than done.

not sure why it should affect your wheel build dude - this is the Gran Compe tyre I'm talking about.

in certain circles it's quite well known that Crispin Glover and his mate Simon both bought white tyres on the same day - CG the Zaffiros, Simon the Gran Compes. Simon had seven punctures in the first few weeks - he had a complete nightmare with them. At that price that's a shiiit tyre.

well i was going to buy the grande compe for my front wheel but after reading this I've changed my mind.

I had some in purple, they are cheapish in Japan.
Skid like a motherfucker, and smell like burning rubber afterwards

didn't have em for long enough to notice puncturability.
