  • What is the considered collective forum recommendation of the best mtb shoe [for a broad foot] for cycling AND walking?...Sidi? Specialized? Lake?..Northwave? Or something else?.....Cheers

  • Sidi Dominator

    EDIT: Sidi Dominator Mega

  • c'mon... SIDI... really?
If anything, you want a more flexible sole.
I used Diadora Caymano shoes commuting, touring, some MTBing and even a 20 mile hike (with cleats still attached).
They flex enough that walking is quite comfortable.
Cheap if you can still find them and I have wide feet and they broke in easily..

I killed them due to 'loose' pedalling technique and they ripped open on my chainstay.
Gaffer tape gave them another few months of life.
    Now retired.

  • i like my Northwaves.
i think Sidi's look too much like football boots.
and that is a *very *bad thing.

  • Football shoes i can live with!......Is it a virtually impossible task to have a sole that is very stiff for cycling but also relatively comfortable to walk in albeit for shortish distances...not for miles.....

  • Job done.............

  • Job done.............

NOT at £149!!...And they do look like football boots c1950s!....£100 is about the limit....BTW your stuff is in the post!

  • Cheers mate................i fucking love these shoes, damn expensive though. Mentioned them casually to my girlfriend, my birthday is in a couple of months..............

  • BTW ive had these for a year, pretty decent for walking in, though maybe not the stiffest

  • Sidi Dominator mega....very good for cycling .and..Ok for walking at least short distances...any arguments with that statement.....which leads onto size...i normally take a 45...what size in Sidi....46 or 47?

have the same one, not that great for walking, you still sound like robocop when walking which is really annoying.

Ed, what pedals/cleats are you using? Im using time aliums and they don't cause any clicking or other 'robocop' noises!

  • ah some generic Shimano one, in that case it also varies on what pedals/cleats you use then as well as the choice of shoes.

Drop the gun. You are under arrest.?

Yep got these also, use them for strutting round uni and stuff, think they are a fine all purpose shoe.

Get your commie arse into a bike shop for a fitting, if you're london based I recommend Condor.

  • I have a pair of sidi dominators in a 45. welcome to pop round and try them on.

  • I picked up a pair of Shimano M075's for this very purpose - it seemed a good compromise for a shoe stiff enough for cycling but flexi enough to work around work in. I didn't want a trainer-type shoe, on account as they all look a bit crud to me. They're cheap (and look better after they've been worn in a bit...)

My for a fascist you are very eloquent!.....I am in Cambridge.....so your recommendation does not apply.....but thanks for the thought.....In any case it would be my commie feet....not arse.....or is that how you try shoes on?

  • yup

  • Case for the prosecution......rests!

  • maybe he just has very very very short legs...

  • I've got these.

Comfy and walkable even with three hole, road cleats.

  • Specialized + SPDs FTW
