Shimano 105/Ultegra/Dura Ace all use same pads but the Shimano own brand ones as supplied are horrible, disintegrate in the wet and grind into aluminium rims causing the evil black dust and scoring on the braking surface .
Spend cash on some Swiss Stop Flash pads (green ones) and even the lowliest of caliper will grab like a bastard in all weather and no evil black dust.
£20 for four if you shop around but really, its the best place to spend a bit before looking at white tyres and the like.
ive been considdering getting cartridge brakes after my recent purchase of new pads. i seem to kill them pretty quickly and it would be nice to be able to replace on the fly with only a little adjustment/effort.
i dont really want to get stuck in a proprietary system with hard to get pads tough.
who uses them?
are they worth it?
which ones are good?
experiences?
