That little bit on the chain ring

  • just cleaning my geared bike and i seem to remember that the 52 chain ring needs to be put on in a specific way so that the little piece of metal that sticks out at 90 degrees is eithe facing the chain and/or in line with the cranks??????????/

    anybody know about this?

  • Yes. It needs to be in line with the crank arm.

  • yes,behind crank arm facing out to stop chain dropping in the chasm

  • You don't want your chain to disappear into here;

  • stop mokin the clints and adjust front derailleur so chain dont drop in the chasm!

  • thats the place FIXED FTW

    Position it so that it is hidden behind the crank when you look at the bike - it stop the chain from getting jammed between the crank arm and chain ring.

  • cheers. job done.

  • That's fast bolt tightening Tim. Good work.

  • just trying to look after the rides while i've got the time. dropped a f*^*ing chain bolt on the floor and it's rolled into some bermuda triangle place under a chair

  • I did that with a tiny brass washer from a Use Alien seatpost, really pissed me off, found it 4 months later about 20 feet away in another room. Lucky I'm a slut.
