painfull session with Dave Creasy
oh dear.
I won't be going to any of these, not much need as I get a similar workout most days at work. evenings have been for weights and rollers recently.
must say, the most benefit I've had this winter has been from that, the last two calshot sessions and giving up /cutting down drinking

Ross at BC mentioned this, I'm really interested... Will PM ya... Can't wait for HH to open, I've missed you guys over the winter... sighs
Quitting smoking has been awesome for my fitness, just need to (don't laugh) knock the booze on the head... My tired old bones are moanin' a bit tho'... -

innerestin ... I have been circuits with British Mil Fitness over the winter and over the last month switching back to the bike ... but (and this happened last year) my calves really don't like running the more biking I do. Do VCL do lots of stretching etc to overcome similar issues?

I remember doing circuits a lot when i was younger, it's not the sort of running you'd want to do as a cyclist IMO, lots of jarring turns and stops?
I would think explosive exercise with light weights and dynamic warm up/cool down would be more the thing..

that's why I wondered what kind of thing VCL did - or are all the participants so young they don't have to worry?!

training session was good as usual.shuttle running is difficult and painfull, at times but good none the less.it starts at 7pm till nine with streching at the end...try and make it next week, all ages welcome i guess.but it will over soon as h/h starts on the 7th...so training will cease..then or just before..push hard...!

Would have come down if I was in London this weekend but I'm up in North Yorkshire with the Planet X team doing silly mileage up and down the steepest hills they can find...
Keep us posted on other working parties as I would love to give back.

I'd be interested to know whether the guys at HH need any work doing which could be feasibly completed by a team of say 40 volunteers in a day?
My department regularly do charity days and help out small youth football clubs in London, by doing odd jobs, painting & decorating / clearing / lawn mowing etc.

@Ved, that's a very generous offer. TBH I don't know if the track really needs too much help really. There are enough of the regular users who chip in here and there with bike maintenance, grass cutting etc.
There are 2 or 3 of these working parties a year, just to have a big drive to get things in order, in this case just before the season kicks off.
After everything's up to scratch its just a matter of keeping on top of everything which doesn't take too much work.
- cheers!

@JC - how do you find out when they are happening? Is it just a case of mailing the VCL chap above and being informed in advance?
I'm happy to give up a day every now and then to help out. Unfortunately I can't make it tomorrow as my sister-in-law has just had a baby so we're off to visit them but I'd be more than happy to turn out in the future.

Joining the VCL gets you on the mailing list for these kinda things!
Thinking about it I think there's only two of these big drives a year really - now and at the end of the season. If people here are keen to help, I'm sure myself, Winston and anyone else can mention it here.

Yeah I did that, it involved filling out the form, sending the cheque six weeks ago and waiting for nothing to happen!
I guess they don't need bounty hunter scum like me

the track looked fine this morning - really nice to see some bikes on it - many of the old crew limbering up ahead of the season to come. such a nice vibe down there. and all those old stadium bikes are now in great nick!
