Cutting a threaded fork

  • any tips on how one can cut a threaded fork on the cheap /DIY?

  • I've done it a couple of times on my hack and it's pretty easy, even without a vice as i don't have one, just take your time, don't be a gorilla and find a good place to comfortably do the sawing. Don't let the hacksaw jump about or you can damage the threads. Just lightly file off the burrs when your done cutting and if the threads near the cut are a bit rough just lightly rub the hacksaw blade along the path of the thread "valley". check with the nut and if it goes on ok then your done.

  • what they said, also a good idea is to thread on a steel nut before cutting, because after to are finished you just remove the nut and it will clean the threads up a bit.
