I've been listening to a load of old house and techno recently, lots of UR (especially the Galaxy 2 Galaxy Stuff), Red Planet (did Mike Banks own up to being 'The Martian' in the end ?), Moodymann (Inspirations From A Small Black Church ) and some Cajual and Relief stuff

I know Jeff Mills was not part of the first wave of techno music but his mixes from mid-80s Detroit radio are fantastic.

Also
Drexciya, Derrick May, Model 500, Claude Young, James Pennington, Aux 88, Plus 8 (Canadian) Djax up beats (Dutch).
+1 to Transmat, Metroplex etc.

Jeff Mills was awesome as the Wizard, 2 copies of Prince Kiss is amazing. He did those mixes on reel to reel at slow speed and then sped them up for playback on the air so he could pull off more tricks and get more tracks into his showtime.
Though for the 80's cut ups the USA kings had to be the Latin Rascals and we of course had the mighty Greg Wilson.
I used to be a detroit completist up until the end of the 90's, so much good shit.

Was sifting through records the other day to stick on eBay and all the old house stuff(late 80's early 90's) I would never sell - timeless and most of it still sounds fresh today whereas most of the stuff I'm selling is from 2001 to present

or MK(house I know)
No, not a protest against the tube.
Just wondering how many other Detroit Techno nerds we have here.
I may have to dust off the UR, planet e, Transmat, KDJ, Frictional, KMS, Metroplex etc for the next time people ask for a DJ at an LFGSS event if enough people respond.
