Sorry: No, No and No. The stem on that butler isn't for sale, another is, a GB spearpoint.
i'll take the dawes re-badged as a mercian
Sure man. £60.
[>grabs a £35 dawes frame and marker pen]same question, and 2nd/3rd/whatever dibs...
duly noted. TBH I'm tempted to go the m_a_x route and just say 'gimme money, frame yours', but I'm not in any massive hurry. And it wouldn't be the LFGSS way...

is that including the wheels [insert cheeky wink]
-
• #12
No wayne, I wanted to keep those wheels, though they're not up to much, you'd really not want them... Just fancied having a spare set of fixed to switch on the tourer I'm building. Had an idea of fixed with massive tyres for east anglia tracks and paths. Probably pipe dreams.

They were £175 new I believe. (I bought as a complete build.) Now discontinued.I should add I'm asking for £100 for F&F as I'd rather someone bought the lot. Would include BB and HS though.

I'd probably accept £90 for either frame.
I am running out of space, so here goes two frames & forks. I'm not asking for specific amounts of cash. Maybe I will later. I just want to know if there's anyone interested, otherwise I might just mothball em. I'd rather someone was riding them though.
F&F Claud Butler Courieur, 1961 model. The earliest production after Holdsworth's purchase of the classic Claud Butler marque. Made in London. Totally spiffing 531. No dings. Original paint, a really nice sea-green colour, very nice shiny with laquer over the top I think. Patina (aka chips) on top tube and a few on the stays. No rust to speak of (rust proofed in manufacture apparently). All original transfers, (including 'rustproofed by special process' and retailer's transfer, a shop in Hitchin) in remarkably good condition, except model name on top tub a bit damaged. Brass headbadge in pretty good nick, some colour fills on the olympic rings missing. Large clearances for 27" rims, suits mudguards well. Very old-school geometry, relaxed seat angle & long rake forks, extremely comfortable ride, long rides are a breeze. Beutifully thin 'pencil' stays and forks. Nervex lugs, BB shell and fork crown (a basic Super Legere design, some nice curls and spearpoints, some small cutouts on the head tube). Rear ends have no gear hanger brazed on, nicer for converting. Long horizontal drops for simple chain tensioning. God knows why I'm selling it, I love this frame.
Curently being ridden like this^
Came to me like this^
So would like to sell with almost everything you'd need to get this on the road as a fixed wheel or supercool 5 speed (all original retail parts except tyres and cranks).
27" wheelset. British Hub Co hubs, 40h freewheel (spaced for 5 speed)/fixed flip flop rear 120mm, 32h 96mm front, laced to chromed steel rims. With new Michelin gumwall tyres 1&1/4. 5 speed freewheel in really good nick, Cyclo I think.
Cyclo Benelux 5 speed derailleur, old pre-parallelogram coil spring-type. Excellent condition, including hanger.
Cyclo Benelux 5 speed braze-on downtube shiter. Shiny chromy and gold, nicely knurled tension mechanism.
Chromed steel seatpost, and clamp.
Lycett Swallow saddle (black) in small picture above, original classy 50s racing saddle. In good, useable nick but by no means pristine.
Lycett pedals, lightweight late 50's road type (for steel cranks, short threaded section of spindle)
Original Bluemels 'club' mudguards in red, matches the seat tube band, cables and old plastic tape (I still have this too). REar mudguard has broken section near seat tube, out of sight and not a problem, structurally. Fittings rusty but could be replaced easily. Mudflap still there but split.
GB stem (hidminium, spearpoint)
GB Maes pattern bars, classic, narrow shape with a shallow drop, alloy. Extremely comfy bars!
pump as in pic.
The original chainring (above smaller pic) bent pretty badly, so I have another steel pair of cranks and chainring (1/8"), chrome not perfect but passable, might polish well, in the Williams track pattern. Good for fixed wheel option, you'd need 3/32 to run the gears though. Easy to get hold of.
Obviously would like to keep all this stuff together. Could sell this as almost complete - BB and HS aren't really good enough to sell on, and I want to hold on to the brakes. Basic replacements for these can be got easily.
Next: sjs 'winter/training' bike, Tange CroMo, 21" ctc seat tube.
Lugged. Enamel in good nick, some scuffs no big chips. Postbox red. Solid winter bike geometry. Mudguard eyes. Will ride forever. One small ding on DT where brake arm has swung round. Small amount of stickers on there, will come off easily enough.
Shimano BB
Headset
Thorn cranks 170 with 44t ring, a bit worn.
Shimano SLX dual pivot brakeset. Pads OK. One lever a bit scuffed.
ITM 38cm ergonomic bars with Brooks black leather tape.
3T A Head stem, 85mm I think.
Black SKS Muddies, replaced since this photo taken
MKS sylvan road quill pedals, no clips.
Wheelset is staying with me, probably.
here's a decent photo of one sold recently by Roberto, much smaller
