I heard that Hackney CC held some grass track racing last summer. Not sure whether it will happen this year or not.
It will, in June, July, and August. Check http://www.cyclingclubhackney.co.uk/ for further updates closer to the time.
Come on a club run sometime!

Cheers Oliver. I did once but we all got split up. Was a while ago though. I'm guessing it's a bit more organised now. Is it still 10am at the Ice rink?

Oliver. On Sunday, when we came back from our club ride, we dropped into TourdeVille for coffee and unadulterated lusting over the stock. The place was buzzing and among those there was a chap from CC Hackney with his arm in plaster who knew you and who had met Winspar at the HH Commissar course recently and who spoke about grass track racing. He said nice things about you. I didn't mention your forthcoming defection.

You might well have. We met at TdeV then and headed out towards Epping Forest and the glorious Essex countryside. Seven of us led by the great BMMF.
I was the fat slow one.

the grass tracj racibg is really fun, they do it round the corner from easts. Mainly based on a flying lap tt which is a mix of speed and the ability not to slip over/ get bounced off your bike.

That would have been Keir. Top bloke. Winston mentioned tonight that he got injured. I'll drop him a line.

Great stuff.

Did you make that?

Nope. Funny though. It'd be fun to see a comparison to East End Life.

Keir crashed and smashed his elbow, cant straighten his arm now because of a metal plate. You probably know this by know though
This weeks Hackney Gazette has a good article on the roots of Cycle Speedway in Hackney. Some good pics too. Page 8&9. I don't ever buy it but it but the picture on the front caught my eye. No brakes and lots argie bargie which is different to onion bhaji. I heard that Hackney CC held some grass track racing last summer. Not sure whether it will happen this year or not.
