is it not meant to protect the bikes from being damaged by the lock?
my lock has a rubber coating all over it so it doesnt do any damage.

I'd imagine they simple removed the rubbery-sheath the lock's usually covered in and replaced it with leather.
Personally I'd think leather would be gentler on delicate paintjobs...

look like a Kryponite Evo Mini whose rubber cover been removed, fair does, I like the idea, not very useful thought, it's only a lock after all.

I don't think it's meant to protect anything, I just think a leather Mini-D would look awesome.

it's a cheap shitty aluminium lock, the have just put a leatherette sleeve over it. i wouldn't use it to lock a kiddies bike up for 5 minutes.
