gazelle are rated one of the best manufacturers in holland great frames ridden in tour de france and other such races back in the day ( don't know what day to be truthful, but they were, take my word for it ! ) also their frames proudly wear the 5 coloured bands / rings representing world champs wins road or track i am not sure but they are there
i have had three now and don't regret a single one

My Gazelle; you can just see Piet de Wit written on the top tube, no campione del mondo bands on track frams though. 531 competition.

That site is pure filth. The blue and orange storck is beautiful.
The classic clownfish koga is one of my favourate framsets, look wise. The shape is all about speed, and the colour scheme is all about fun. represents (for me) what a track bike should be, fast and fun.

It normally has blue Nitto drops and stem, I changed it for the tweed ride only.

http://www.m-gineering.nlYou might want to remove Stevens and Von Hacht, as they're German... When it comes to the big brands (Gazelle and Batavus) then you will still find road racers, but no track frames anymore. Gazelle used to be very big with their custom made GoldLine racers, but they've stopped doing them, claiming it's not longer 'core-business'. A real shame, as Gazelle used to build absolute beauties.

My tremendous thanks to Lecturer in Recent Runes, for the correction and the brilliant links.
Yes....., I have added the "Storm Shag". Nothing quite as good as a Shag?

I've taken the liberty of writing to Gazelle UK, to ask why their parent company is ignoring the fixed/ss boom....especially here in the UK.
They said they "will get back to me".
It would be nice if they would reconsider. Just my two cents.

dicki, have you built up either of them yet? I recall they were a nice price.

I tried to engage the attention of the Manager at the last Earls Court show, with precisely this in mind. Unfortunately the show was about to close as I'd been to the Catford Hill climb, and he was trying to sell someone a battery powered bike!

Fiddy, I not only emailed them, but had a chat with the manager by phone. I strongly made the point, that Gazelle were respected and could be a real presence and a welcome alternative in the fixed/track/ss market.
Let's hope for good things.

Still in the (very slooow) process of building up my Gazelle. It's an original track specific frame that had, according to the factory, (got in touch with the main factory in Holland) had 1 frame number omitted during manufacture, this was weird but just human error. Some guy who'd been working there for the last 35+ years dated it from the pictures I sent them as being from around '69 or very early 70s.

Are you still working on the build? Glad to see that you've had some success on tracking the frame numbers down.

I am! It's taken me about 6 months just to decide on the colour (metallic orange with fat white band on seat-tube and head-tube), plus black and silver parts but with emphasis on black, and brown Brooks saddle and bar-tape (think this'll work well with the black and orange theme going on). Mixture of vintage parts and some new (hubs are Goldtech - sacrilege!), but mainly all NOS vintage stuff - like a lovely black engraved Medici stem for example. It's taken a while for stuff to turn up on fleabay, as I've been waiting for the right stuff rather than going 'ah, fuck, that'll do'.

Love the Casati Pista!
I've taken a shine to The Netherlands, ever since my son was conceived there.
But posts in the Travel thread (from Archi Pelago, Fruit, Lecturer in Recent Runes,
and FrankTheTank), plus my friendship with Amsterdamize, has got me thinking of Dutch bikes.
More info please on (modern) ss/fixed/track Gazelle(s)....?

A special note about m-engineering: it appears that they specialise in making any type of frame for any type of rider.

I won't bother list Lohmans, as the website is the worst I've ever seen.
Singlespeed.nl is no better than CharlieTheBikemonger or Hubjub
**Klamer , Beukers, **deserves a mention though
