  • Does anyone have a record player that they want to get rid of for not much money? One with built in amp/speakers would be ace as I'm a touch short on room.

  • I have a vintage portable thing, 60s Pye... It's 531, looks like a little briefcase with detachable speakers... Would want £70 for it tho'... At least... Battery type thing...

  • I have a beautiful dansette one which is valve, looking again for about £70, but properly done up it's worth a good 200

  • What does "properly done up' entail? Me and valves go back a ways... ;]

  • Well the valves are fine, it needs in an ideal world, a new needle and cartridge and some cosmetic work (still looks great though) and that's about it. Auto changer works fine, plays all records, 16s-78s and all that, is beautiful and sounds pretty good.
I mean, if you want something that is squeaky clean sounding, it's not the thing but if you want something that'll play your records and look sick then it's the one, right?

  • Just checkin', I have way too many record playing devices as it is... Tho' one of the most spooky and special musical listening experiences I ever had was listening to a Sun Elvis 45 (original mind you, not a 70s repro) on my mate's tiny valve dansette... Elvis sounded like he was in the bloody room, very weird (this was about 1997)... Sounds shit on my Technics... My point is, it's great to listen to old stuff on the machinery it was designed to be played on... Completely different experience... 2p... Out..

  • +8

  • So by that logic I should listen to new stuff on a new machine?

were you, just a little, high?

  • were you, just a little, high?

A spliff or two may have been consumed, but it was bloody awesome... Then he pulled out some Hank Willams 78s and stuck 'em on his wind up gramophone... Super amazing...

  • ha!

no. seriously dude, it was like, fucking cosmic.

    (gentle joshing)

  • I've been thinking about it and I think I could squeeze separates in my room, I have an amp and speakers neither are great but they'll do. So a record deck of any kind is what I'm after now, I really like the aesthetics of the Sansui SR-222 but it's way out my price range.

Anyone got anything reasonably pretty and cheap (£50 max)?

  • Worth posting a wanted ad on here http://www.avforums.com/forums/

  • Bloody hell that forum is extensive to say the least. Might post on there if nothing comes up from my regular forums.

  • Anyone want piano rolls and laudanum?

I've got a comb, a tissue and a pair of spoons...

  • Has anybody got a Maserati for sale? Quattroporte, about two years old, low mileage. Around £2k. Cheers.

  • I've got something like this in good nick.
    Can't remember which model.
(ignore the euro plug in the picture - I grabbed pic off the 'net)
    £20

  • Some more details on which model please, definitely interested though.

  • if you can wait until march 13, I have a vestax handytrax that you can have for 40 ish quid.

  • Think I'm going to go for nankatsu's deck, will keep you in mind if it falls through though.

  • if you're short on room, get one of these:

    Or better still
