Looking forward to a (hopefully) dry sunday although doesn't look like it's gonna be the case.
Maybe we should go to southbank on Sat? -
• #7
I'm too ashamed of my fixed gear ways to show my face in southbank ever again...
-
• #8
Yeah I now actually have saturday off completely so I may be up for that if you guys are, the weather looks alot better for saturday then it does for sunday.
Gus you are about ten times better than all of us lol, why would you be ashamed dude, is it cos your skater mates might see you on a bike :p.... -
• #9
exactly!
-

I've got a gangsta bandana you can wear over your face if that helps? or a balaclava, or alternatively you could have temporary plastic surgery on saturday, which could then reversed my monday so you are able to continue as normal.

I heard lance armstrong and John Cardiel are getting together to make a fixed gear video game, think its gonna be called "Dope skillz" or was it "Doping skillz" I forget.....
-
• #15
^^haha nice. Gus, if you're the dude with the long hair and mad skills, do us a favour and come and teach us The Ways!
-
• #16
Gus indeed has da mad fixed skillllz, but apparently if he ever dares to display them in front of his skater buddies, he will be shunned, strapped to an argos skateboard, and burned during a ritual rejection ceremony in the center of southbank banks......

If that's what skaters are like in real life, I wonder what their forum must be like. Not going from any experiences on here, though, you understand.

There is alot of hatred between skaters and bmxers, i've seen fights at southbank before, and was involved in a bit of a scuffle one time, nothing major. Some skaters think they own the sole rights to use southbank since it was side effects of urethane (a skate/art movement) along with alot of skaters who campaigned originally to get the grind/manny blocks put in. I don't know how it is these days as I've been out of touch with that scene/community for a couple of years now. A certain skatepark cough bay66 cough run by skaters discriminates massively against bmxers and gives them heavily restricted times during which they are allowed to use the park, whereas skaters are allowed to use it the majority of the time, quite blatant discrimination that isn't going to change anytime soon. To be honest though bmxing these days is pretty much all about street riding and trails, I know very few bmxers these days that give a shit about riding park often.

Shit dude parks scare the shit out of me anyways. Never been to one but halfpipes and stuff scare me lol.
-
• #20
Ketchup scares the shit outta me, but I can ride a park all day long on a bmx.....weird eh.
-
• #21
Speaking of parks, stockwell on fixed is stupid fun.
-
• #22
^^Till skateboarders, bmxers and even 24" MTBers start laughing at you and make it hell?
Could be good fun to have a big excursion to stockwell though! -
• #23
I rode down there to skate and was bullied by a few skaters into trying to pop out the sugar bowl. All the guys down there are pretty cool, also if you go during the week before 3 its usually pretty empty.
-
• #24
Yeah deffinitely not a good idea to go there after dark, don't think there are many lights there am I right?
-
• #25
No lights, although its still rideable after dark, although slightly dodge
Ok, so to avoid cluttering up the trixiedix thread with more of my ramblings I started a new one.
So who's up for some bmx type tomfoolery down the southbank on sunday?
I was planning on being down from about 12ish but it might now be more like 2:30pm, however I know PhilJay may be down earlier, and Marco (pepperoni) should be coming also, and Kyle.
There's a banked curved wallride of varying steepness from slightly banked to vertical, depending on how brave you feel, where you can ride undisturbed by security, also the skaters etc usually clear off a little later so we might get a chance to ride the banks and have a go at some other stuff down there, anyone of any ability on a bike is welcome, come down have a laugh, pick up a bruise or two, last time was really good fun, even ononelangster came down with his son to bust out some moves, so at the moment we have:
Nosferatu (kyle)
Pepperoni (marco)
PhilJay
