Jammed Stuck Seatpost

  • Anyone got any good ideas for a jammed seatpost? It's jammed in there pretty good!
It no longer has the top bit so I can't attach a saddle for extra leverage/grip.
Couldn't find a thread already, if there is one (I expected there would be), then a point in the right direction would be appreciated.
    Cheers.

What material is the frame made of? What material is the seatpost made of?

  • ok turn bike upside down, stick seatpost in vice...

  • you can try drilling a hole through the post and then inserting a steel bar and try getting leverage that way. if that fails you might have to take the frame to a frame builder ideally (as they would have some sympathy or understanding of cycles) and have them heat the tube. i had this happen to me and that is what witcombs did. my frame tubing was columbus SL

Somehow always slips my mind! Worked a treat, thanks everyone. :)

  • I had this with a carbon seatpost on a bike I purchased second hand. Had to cut post just above frame and get a hack saw blade on the inside of the seat post to get it free. Took about 2 hrs but was not detrimental to the integrity of the frame. (gosh...) Frustrating as hell.
