go for it al,
once the summer hits people will be up for everything bike related, and I'm pretty sure the calendar will get fairly crammed. what with the annual excursions to brighton, southend, cambridge, oxford, camber sands (though thats a hard ride, not sure if it will be repeated), canterbury etc.
I'd definitely be up for a little river ride action....
If you want some help with the route, post up a question in the routes database.let's ride..

What Corny said..
Just thought I'd say though that I wouldn't look much into using the Thames path as I've heard quite a lot of the more rural parts are either not open to bikes or just muddy tracks that aren't particularly bike-friendly..

bring on cambridge in may again! that was sweet (apart from corny's little spill)

So what date in June then? Sounds like it could be a great ride, you cant do it between the 6th and the 13th as I am on holiday then :-)

i've done the thames path to windsor...
it's ok, most of the path would be ok on narrow-ish tyres. there's one muddy section at the end, and we lost the cycle route in windsor great park and almost rode into prince andrew's house/estate through his back gate. got stopped by a nice man in a suit whom we realised on departing had a huge gun! jokes.
in all, though, i wouldn't recommend for a group ride. the thames path is shared with peds, and narrow at points, which in the summer would make for impossible riding. even on a rainy march day our group of four had to frequently slow to a standstill because of the number of people walking.
but i +1 the idea... i was gutted to miss the oxford ride last year. whitstable could also be good...

What about somewhere a bit more ambitious like say.........................Hull?
I did it once from London, it takes a while but I pretty much had the roads to myself (especially at 2am) and you've well earned your beers when you get there!

would def be up for it, henly beers?
pub stops would be a terrible idea, big forum rides are slow enough without people getting entrenched in a pub.
would do any out of town forum ride i've been on again, but wouldnt recomend cambersands as a large ride as it is a complete motherfucker (admitedly i'd been drinking till 4 the night before, but still the last 10 miles was a complete slog)

As I'm leaving to Oz first week of July, I'll be planning to have a bit of a ride for those who fancy it. May beon 27th June. It'll be round London though. More details nearer the time.

tell you what duncan, you peddle all the way up that hill 2nite and tell me all about it 2moro.
The Tweed Run was so fantastic that I can't see how it can be eclipsed. It was the best day I've had on my bike.
It got me thinking... (dangerous for someone with little brains) what about organising a FGSS ride in June along the Thames ending in a picnic/barbecue in Windsor? Is anyone interested in this? If so, I'd look to organisng a route/venues etc. I see it as a relaxed social ride with pub stops along the way...
