Your issue may stem from the fact that water is coming out of your tap.

The title of this made me laugh hard.
If it hurts that bad I wouldn't drink it.
What are your pipes made from? -
• #8
Your tap is suffering from acid reflux. Get it some antacid.

Well, my concern is not so much the pain as what might be causing it. It's all very well and good to 'HTFU' and deal with it (which is what I have been doing), but if it's some kind of chemical or something that might be harmful, then I'd really like to know so I could do something about it.

Must be a plumber or two on here?

What are your pipes made from?I have no idea, to be honest. But it's just the kitchen, so it seems a bit odd. On the bright side, they're currently changing all the water pipes in the area right now (my road is all torn up), so it might fix the issue.

Good point. If this endeavour fails, I might just have to a) mention it to the property manager or b) call a plumber.
Or
c) 'HTFU'

Before I moved to london, my hometown of Northampton had a Crypto Sparidium outbreak in the water. We all had to boil water before drinking it, in the hight of bloody summer.
I gave up and drank it and was fine. But it didn't sting... I'd get to
aldi or lidl and get some cheap bottled water -

...if your water pipes aren't earth-bonded you can get a mild electric shock - feels like needles! Could be that!

It might be! I get a mild shock from the stove if I touch it when emptying the washing machine.
I think you maybe solved this!

An electric shock is quite different to stinging when pouring onto wounds.. description of problem fail. :P

Well, if the electric shock feels like needles and I feel it around my fingernails....

Call a plumber. Back away from the stove...

have a look below the sink - there should be earth straps connecting the pipes together and then back to the consumer unit. I'd get it sorted either way water n electricity - bad!
Especially in the shower/bath as well!

Yeah, I'm going to call the estate agent tomorrow and see if she will send out a plumber. And I guess it's all takeaway curry from here on out...

The shower is fine. I'll look for the straps under the sink.
So this has nothing to do with bikes. And no, I did not perform a search to see if this question had been answered previously!
I recently moved into a new flat, and the water from the kitchen tap hurts. Really. Regardless of the pressure or temperature of the water, it stings badly whenever it touches any kind of cut or scrape on my hands (like hangnails, etc). It feels almost like pouring alcohol on a cut, or maybe being jabbed with a needle.
The water from the other taps in my flat do not do this (and thank god the shower doesn't). Any idea what is causing this? Anyone else ever have this problem?
The water tastes fine and looks ok. Although now I'm thinking maybe I shouldn't drink it.
