Campagnolo shamal rear

  • I'm contemplating rebuilding a front shamal clincher into a fixed rear. Has anyone done this/ can best advise on anything? Will the 16 spokes withstand the force on the rear fixed hub?
I have already put this question to someone on the forum but thought others may have already tried/ succeeded/ failed!

  • I havent tried it but im guessing chunky bladed spokes will be the way to go?

  • i wouldn't like 16 spokes on my rear wheel, and i weigh literally nothing. 32 ftw

I totally think you're right. Think I just needed someone to say it to stop me dreaming of it!

  • I highly doubt it due to the offset spoke holes but would getting it drilled for 32 holes work?

  • haha that could be a good idea if it works

  • 16 spoke rear right there.
The front I've got is only 12 spoke!

  • is it a clincher? is it for your everyday bike too?
    you nutter

  • na it's a tub, and I've been up and down the road on it once...

Good job really as I weight just a shade under 16st ;)

  • Think I'm gonna abandon the idea altogether. The whole point of the clincher was so it could be for everyday, but the 16 spoke thing just isn't gonna make it practical.
    Thanks for the discussion anyway!
