Riding on the road there is legal, but not many people do it, as a lot of the roads are wide and fast and drivers are pretty mental.
I don't know of any tracks there, but there should be some nice rides up in the New Territories, but be warned, some of the the mountain roads are fucking steep!

Cheers fellas.
I have ridden there before and had limited success in mountain cycling....
I'm not sure about how much time I'll have but I have spoken briefly to Brian.
Anybody want anything back by the way?

My home town! Mighty hilly. When I have considered riding there (on the road) I have always been put off by the 5 lane highways and the fact that hardly any bikes are on the roads - we seriously luck out in London that (most) drivers anticipate cyclists. Riding roads in HK like most do in Lung would be suicidal. I hear there are loads of nice MTB trails - but you'd have to drive to them I'm sure... Outside of the biking, I still have a bunch of friends back east who would be sure of showing you a good time. Wan Chai and Ricky and Pinky's FTW!

Hey, you're probably back to London but in HK you can ride on a long flat track from Sha Tin to Tai Po. (New Territories)
Nice ride along the sea.
There is even a bike shop in Science Park, Shatin (mid way to Tai Po) -

In HK now!! I love this place but I can see how you'd be put off cycling here, my lady's house is on Tai Tam Rd. and it would be a killer climb up some dodgy roads to get here, they'd be great fun if they were quiet but having seen how Lizzie's dad drives I know I wouldn't want to meet anyone like him coming up behind me on one of those roads.
Still I really want to try and pay a visit to Rodafixa some day for a look and maybe BrianKwan's shop too if anyone can tell me the name for it or the address. Also any ideas on fun stuff to do in HK as everyone I'm here with are locals and as crappy as it can be sometimes doing the touristy stuff can be fun too...

Are you on HK island itself? HKFix run rides in Sunny Bay or Shatin area. If you took your bike, be sure to lower your gearing!! ;)

Yeah I'm on the south of the island, found the address for BrianKwan's shop and it's up in the New Territories so might not make it up there, didn't bring my bike unfortunately but I'd have loved to take part in a ride, maybe next time though :)

Bkwan stocks mostly MTB; Brian@HKfix does all stuff fixed. He's located between Sheung Wan - Mid levels. You have to arrange an appointment prior to visit as he has a day job. check his site for details. Tell him l said "hi!"
