I think im gonna like this thread.
Mooks, your stuff resembles stuff for the early PS1 racing games, like speed freaks.Gus i have deep feelings for that tune.

Not intelligent but the first D&B record i owned: Clipz
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=DVv9mS2e2is
this is a bit darker, twisted individual
-

I don't like the use of the words like 'intelligent' put in front of pre-existing music to create genres to sell more records by categorizing them. Record label stunts if you ask me.
But in regards to 'intelligent D&B' then Adam F probably qualifies:

I don't think Adam F was "intelligent" so much as "well calculated".. sample was well known and kind of tune most people wouldn't have sampled cos of its familiarity. It was during the period drum and bass got to near to being commercial status cos it got listener-friendly (Bukem / Size et al).. then the dark side producers seemed to kick back with a vengence and put loads of casual people off. That's how I remember it anyway.
Rollers always got me...

for anyone that doesn't know me, i'm a junglist at heart. ever since the first tune i heard i knew it was for me. last year i was working at hospital records for a couple of months. i have been finding it hard to find good new DNB these days, but i am a big fan of the likes of Logistics, London elektricity, High Contrast, Culture shock, and various other people.

Clipz
that tune brings back nothing but bad memories.
lying awake at 7:30AM
trying to sleep,
not being able to piss,
and nothing but slippery fucking slope going through my mind.
i would love to smash Clipz' synthesizer over his cunt head

I'm pretty impressed by the response - and only one dodgy tag so far!
My selection wasn't the best, but I wasn't in the mood for trawling youtube if nobody was into this stuff.
I'll have a look through my vinyl collection later and see what I can come up with. Living in Bristol in the late '90s means I've got a pretty good selection - stuff on Metalheadz, Valve, Hospital etc.
I do like a bit of jungle too - just anything that has depth to it. It's not enough to drop a hard drum beat in and expect me to like it - needs a bit of 'schwarm' too. If anyone can post something with 'schwarm' I'll buy them a pint.

@ greasy brissle you say did you used to go to clubs in chippenham - golddiggerz cheltenham - gas hereford - the crystal rooms eversham - can't remember name of club but say some very top dj's playing there back in the early 90's
dj easy rider
dj slipmatt etc
I grew up listening to a lot of good stuff on Good Looking, Metalheadz, Moving Shadow and the like, but have been recycling the same old stuff for the past 12 years. Anyone else out there into a bit of the intelligent stuff? I never really liked the hard Drum & Bass, but the deep stuff really did it for me.
