My guess is - chromed then lacquered?
British finishers have been clearcoating / tinting chrome since the 1920s. -

ye i love the condor classico pista too. its 699 for the frame ste alone though :( which is a fuck of a lot for an OTP IMO. i still want one. fucking lovely clearances

Chroming alone is about £250.

It can look quite crap after a few years though can't it? I remember a few BMXes were gold back in the 80's, there was even a gold Raleigh Burner I think?

this is a re-issue OTP. ive been after a bmx for a while now, what better than a raleigh burner
-
• #13
Everything is better than a burner.

you may be right, but i have a soft spot for the raleigh bmx as it was my first bike. also im getting it for short journeys which i cant be fucked to bring my fix along for
-
• #15
The raleighs were standard chrome with a gold coloured plastic coating oveer the top.

In the 1970s...Condor had a Ciocc frame 'plated' in 22ct gold.....valued in £1000s even then....always wondered if it came with a little dustpan and brush to pick up any gold that comes off in a ride!

The reissue Burners are fucking shit. I bought one of those Limited Edition Boxfresh ones but sent it back the day it arrived. The bike shop I bought it from initially wouldn't take it back!

The original ones were also fucking shit so no surprises there :-)
I would have rather owned a Piranha.

Not so hot at a skate park.

Yeah, didn't think many people would remember the Piranha. It actually had metal aerospoke type wheels. Took two people to lift it...

hi i had my super tuff mk2 burner restored and re'golded'
the frame must be chrome to begin with and as mentioned a film or lacquer is put over, it looks great in red and blue too
i have contact details of the guy who did my burner if ure interested.the mk3 burner - boxfresh etc, its not the same technique its a gold powdercoat that looks more yellow in real life.
the geometry of the mk3 burners is actually very good and the design was oversaw by the burner forums etc -

ahhh piss take. what was shit about them?
ive had my fuji track for a while now and upgraded alot of the parts, and i feel ive got to a point where im happy with the way it rides. i think its now time to get a custom paint job for the frame. ive been umming and arring about how i would like the paint scince i got it.
i recently saw this condor in another thread and fell in love. never seen a bike with any gold that i actually liked, but i think this one looks great.
also componant wise its almost exactly the same as my fuji, except i have a front brake and fuji frame.
so what i really want to know is where/how/£££ is a gold coating possible? not real gold obviosly, but i certainly dont want gold colored paint. a girl i knew at uni had a beach cruiser with a gold deep-glitter paintjob which looked ace.
