  • Couldn't see this mentioned in the thousand plus posts in the Tweed Thread...

What's everyone doing regards bags for the run? We'll be gloriously tweeded head to toe, so won't our usual bags look a little incongruous?

Much as I'd love to say I've a period leather saddle bag...I don't, and certainly not forking out for one as can't see myself reusing it...

Bags hidden under jackets so one looks like Quasimodo?

  • You are carreing my bag so thats me sorted. ;)

  • Saddlebags ftw

  • I have a small leather satchel which keeps its shape, designed to carry a light-painting device which it will as well as some tools, shillings and a remote telegraming device.

  • Man bags!

  • @ pinkgotti mobs - you could be onto something...every good Gent needs a porter...

  • Skully, the saddle bag you had for the Brighton ride was awsome. Nice and vintage. It was even better as you were going for the vintage saddle bag and luminous craft work top. Fantastic.

  • game bags FTW

  • TY pinkGM! I seem to recall it was all in the name of practicality (saddlebag) and visibility on country roads (Kraftwerk flouro top), and not at all malcoordinated on purpose.

But the saddlebag's deffo getting an airing on Saturday if Mrs Skully lets me out.

  • I've got a Carradice Nelson Longflap on the way... but I have no idea whether it will arrive in time.

  • I don't have a satchel fetching enough, porter willing enough or a saddlebag at all so tools etc will be in pockets and my lock is probably going to be strapped to my person somewhere..

Right now I'm thinking of ways I could make an impromptu holster for my lock (probably with a belt) otherwise I'll have to put it in the belt round my waist and look slightly more uncouth than originally intended

  • I'll have someone running in front of me carrying my stuff.

A saddle bag should hold all my needed kit unless I stop for a shop at rapha and buy a bag... hmmm

    A classic!

I have to say Saddlebags do make a bike feel quite top heavy, and probably are much less unsettling that way when you're using panniers too. I have yet to find out.

  • Wicker Picnic Baskets ftw

  • Wicker creels ftw

Practicality! What ever. You threw it on. Looked in the morrour and thought, damn that looks freeking awsome. Brighton (and Gay pride) here I come.

You should really take this as a compliment. I cant remember what anyone else looked like that day.

  • Hmmm, i hope my old leather school satchel will be big enough, or for my sins it may be the rapha musette...but only cos i've got loads of bits to carry for staying with the mrs that night. A cartridge bag would also be pretty suitable.

  • ...or coyote brown Mashton by Archie's Grobags FTW! Modern but discreet and holds essentials.

  • try getting a tweed one out of here -

  • what about those ally capellino cavas bags that she did for the tate? they look cool, and i remember them being pretty inexpensive.

  • I've got one of these

it even has a handy waist strap to stop it swinging round, happy to lend it to anyone who wants to borrow, PM me if you're interested.
