How much play (left / right movement) in the rear wheel indicates a busted hub. Mine is a bit wobbly and making annoying noises when I am cycling. Sound busted?

How about a half inch in either direction! Thats how mine was by the time I got home last night. Moral: Dont use secondhand wheels without checking/rebuilding first.

Just stripped the offending wheel, 8 bearings on one side and 9 on the other! Dont rely on a secondhand wheel being okay like i did, check it!
