The best pint of ale i think i've ever had was in a wetherspoons. It was one of the guest ales at the time and i think it was called JCB. It was amazing.

The holy grail of stouts though is the DogFish Head Worldwide Stout, and here is what the Liverpool Echo thought of it.
I think I need at least a crate of the DogFish Worldwide Stout each winter.

If you're in the Hoxton area head to the Wenlock, best place for decent beer in the East End.

the only solution when skint!
I'm strictly a lager drinker. Mainly wife beater, tyskie ( a new found love) and heineken (choice lager of slayer guitarist jeff hanneman). Enjoyed kroenenbourg for many years, but have gone off it's slightly citris after taste.

I was in Sainsbury earlier in Sydenham and some jokers had put the special brew in between the non alcoholic beers - cracked me up!

I really like the Stout you get in Sam Smiths pubs! It is well cheap and tastes a bit like coal.

Curiously, it went great with Pizza...
I also like:
Marston's Old Empire
Fuller's London Pride
Cain's IPA
Many more that I've tried at various beer festivals that are yum.My favourite ale is definitely Skull Splitter
Can't drink it too often, it get's me fucked.
I tried Mead once at a beer festival. It was delicious. Try it.
Yesterday I was trying out the Hobgoblin from the Wychwood Brewery, and tonight I'm enjoying a cold Bishops Finger.
Both are excellent, but I am a bit fond now of the Hobgoblin ruby beer.
Any other recommendations?
I remember an Belgian beer years ago, that was 14.5% abv, had the texture of Guinness, the smell of chocolate, and the taste of brandy.
Perfection in a winter ale/beer.
