What does the brace do on the tacx antares?

What does the brace do on the tacx antares?
photo not yet available, but I'd guess it holds the fork somehow
-
• #7
Tempting but the wife would kill me for spending more bike related money and taking up more space (unless I could somehow use it to light up her father's flat...)
-
• #8
thing is, if you're not going to balance on them, might as well get a turbo?
-
• #9
Let's aim for the discrete track bike first then and the rolloers (without brace) can follow later.

Rollers < Rollers with resistance < Turbo

If like me, all you're fussed about is getting some bike time in when it's sheet ice out or pissing down with rain (basically when you feel like a pussy) then the Tacx Ecotrack rollers are perfectly good. I find them a bit better with a geared bike mind so you can whack it in a nice high gear for a better workout.
http://www.leisurewheels.co.uk/products.php?plid=m2b48s36p2692&rs=gbI just got them for £60 from Surosa but it looks like they're sold out now (2007 product).

Given this thread is three years old, what do people recommend these days?

Anyone got experience of the minoura, cycleops or kreitler rollers? £149, £229, £250
Are they worth the ascending price difference?
-
• #18
No one?
-
• #19
I have the tacx Antares and they are good for an hour when it is really wet or icy. Not sure that more expensive ones can do any more - perhaps quieter but I use them in the garage so that's not an issue.

I use the anteres in an attempt to keep fit while looking after my kids... It's a bit hard to go out for an hour or two with the kids about, but I can snatch a few short roller sessions between them fighting.
£136 from winstanley's... The wiggle price is within 10% of that should you buy them with 10% off...

And cheaper from rosebikes

Anyone got rollers they're not using for a few weeks they want to lend me?
