Subs for league matches - ruling please

Can anyone (even from another league team) sub for any team?

I only ask because it was a bit of an issue yesterday.

Ok after the meeting this were the agree points

• The league is own by the players
• Every team will play every team in the league, with matches home and away
• Home team provide court and the ball of their choice
• Match must be played in a fix date, unless agree by the two teams to be play in another date within two weeks
• 1 substitute per team per game, if need it, this player can be any player
• 3 games per match, 1 point per game win.
• In case one team don’t show up, the other team get the 3 points, and the absent team gets -1
• Games can be 2 against 3, or 1+subs against 3 or 2 against 2.
• 28th Sep deadline to inscribe teams
• 1st Oct star of the league*

I assume also once the sub has been called to play this player can not change during a fixture.

Starting three = finishing three, regardless of whether there is a sub there or not.

Can't tell if this is serious. But let me just get this out there, then.

The first time I heard that Los Conos was going to have a sub was on the way to the court, and that the sub would be Aiden (we would probably have postponed to play the regular team if we had a chance, but not after riding South). Otters and I discussed it and figured we didn't want to have to play a sub from BAD, given that we are in second place to BAD and that the Goal Difference matters in this league.

When we got to the court I registered this objection with Sarah. However, I also said that I simply wanted to air the concern, and that they could use whomever they wanted. We did not try to dicate it. In the end, through some process in which Malice was not involved, Los Conos ended up getting a sub that they apparently were not happy with. It ended up being shitty for a lot of people. I'm sorry we helped create a mess. I for one am more than happy to replay this match with all three Los Conos.

And, also for the record, our point was simply that with some subs there can be a pretty unfair advantage given to a team on a particular day. We were thinking something along the lines of, perhaps players from the top three teams should not be able to sub. Maybe better, perhaps subs should have to be from outside the league.

I don't like rules any more than the rest of you, but there is an argument for trying to make it so subbing does not substantially increase the advantage of the team who must sub.

But maybe we were wrong and I'm sorry if our over-seriousness about kicking (BAD) ass took the fun out of the game for Los Conos and Rob.

ok, now that makes more sense to me...

I think,

All subs should be declared prior to the match, with 48 hours notice.
If an agreement to play the game with sub, the sub can not change.
The sub can be anyone!
If an agreeable arrangement to play at a later date can be met between the 2 teams, which does not jeopardise the the fortnightly fixtures, this is ok... if not either play with the sub or forfeit the points.

you can't always give 48 hours notice. Jo found out she couldn't play during the night before the game, so the only notice they could give was on the morning of the match.

i think the 48 hours is an ideal time frame.

But in this case, its the responsibility of the teams to notify changes...ie could be an unfair advantage.

i imagine that 48 hours could be problematic for many situations, one suddenly has to work/stay late at work, or gets ill, or any number of other not very nice reasons that can come up quite suddenly.

maybe for next season each team can nominate two people as potential subs? then eveyrone knows what they're potentially up against, and it might give a chance for there to be more team coherence if the same sub plays a number of games...

too many rules.
