  • I'm about to have to chuck three pairs of jeans because I've worn the seats out of them riding my bike. I remember someone posted months ago about a repair service but recent enquiries have found that that particular business has closed up shop. Does anyone else have access to a sewing machine and the skills for patching up denim, or does anyone have any tips for a home fix? Much obliged - let the worm out bottom hilarity commence. x

  • That last bit was meant to read 'worn out', not 'worm out'. I'd be in even more of a dilemma if I'd a worm out the seat of my pants...

  • I turn mine in to thongs

  • give shinscar a pm he was the one doing repairs.
I just take mine to my local dry cleaners, they do repairs, and patch them for about a twelve quid, nice work as well. Saves buying a new pair of jeans, had about four or five patched, in the last year or so...

  • there's not much you can do - patch them and then they'll only tear at the patch/jean seam.

  • Fuck me; I've got two pairs on the kitchen floor and a bunch of cut offs from old jeans waiting for me to get the needle and thread out; people pay to get their jeans patched?

LPG: true, but you squeeze a few more weeks/months out of them. Then again, I'm a courier, people expect my jeans to be patched and torn.

  • read cornelius blackfoots post and you will find your answer :)

  • I'm not letting Ray touch/sniff/stroke my jeans thanks very much :)

  • dt is brilliant at fixing jeans.

Dont think i have ever paid as much as £12 for a pair of jeans.
Never worn any out at the arse either.
    Coincidince?

  • I PM'd Shinscar but he's not in the rag trade anymore. Might hit up the drycleaners... Or if a home fix anyone got top tips?

mine don't wear out in the arse, wear out in the crotch, sweatiest crotch in christendom me.
not sure cheaper jeans are better, but hey each to their own...

  • My gusset is good. My cheeks are thread bare. Hmm...

Iv got a home fix, dig around in the sofa and find £3. Goto Asda. Buy new jeans. Throw old jeans in bin.

  • I'd rather let the air in.

  • patch your denim with old tubes.

  • If you can find someone with a sewing machine, a bit of denim and then five hundred lines of stitch with nylon thread works a treat.

Not sure you needed to share that with us Corny.

  • Wear cycling bottoms while cycling?

  • I tried that. The boss said they distracted my colleagues in the office.

What are you doing cycling in the office? Its not that hard to change your clothes you know, rather hygenic too.

  • Seriously though. A couple of months ago I had three pairs of jeans wear out at the same time (this constitutes a fair percentage of my wardrobe). This pissed me off a bit, as I only used to cycle in my jeans for shorts trips.

    UnJeans, thats what you need!
