I don't think you need a stand to be honest, my father just used his bicycles as a truing stand, he adjust the brake enough to make it barely touch the rims (less than a mm even), and used them to true his wheel.

well ideally you would true the wheels to the frame that they will be used on.
I'm not recieving my frame for a few weeks, and would like to have the wheels ready to rumble for when it arrives.
I have a couple of other frames, but they are pretty much all out by a little - so pretty much useles for truing. -

You can borrow mine as long as it's back in a day or so... I'm in SE1. Be warned, it's heavy! PM me if interested.

Can you true vertical differences as well as lateral differences without a truing stand?

cheers dude, thats really nice of you!
i'm not sure what i'm doing now, i gave Arup a call, and he said he'd true both wheels for a tenner. ive heard really good things about his builds so i may just do that.
if i decide to do it myself i will def pm you.
Thanks again,
Jamie.
Does anyone
(preferably in SE London - Camberwell area)
have a truing stand that i can borrow/come and use?
Just built up a set of wheels that now need truing, gonna true the front to a spair pair of forks ive got lying around. But i dont have my frame yet so truing the rear is going to be difficult...
Any help much appreciate!
Jamie
