The one on the hancock roundabout? Are they hiring?
-
• #4
They should be considering there was only one person working there today and I was standing around for 20 minutes waiting to get served.
-
• #5
I might challenge you to that, im desperate for employment.
-
• #6
I'll fight you for it.

RE: couriering... You could always ask yjdelivery.co.uk if he want's to spread the love further and wider... see if he'll help you get going in Brum with a few tips to getting started. I doubt you'd be seen as a rival, so no reason why he shouldn't be willing to chat things through.
P.s. I don't know the guy though, so can't promise owt would come of you contacting him.

^^Thanks. I'll send him an email

as an afterthought, couriering being an eco friendly business, there'd probably be startup funding available via EU and other agencies if you pitch it right. A friend was telling me about a funding grants search website, i'll get reminded of it and post it here.

oh wait, I thought that you meant he was looking to start in yjdeliveries birmingham. Messenjah was saying ages ago that there's only enough work for 1 courier. Ah well.
-
• #11
Sorry for any confusion... Given the size of Brum, 2nd city n'all that, i'd be amazed if it topped out at 1 courier. ?!
-
• #12
Apparently it's because the city centre is so small
-
• #13
Still amazed, but fairy'nuff.

I think I'm going to see if I can get a job as a life model. I reckon it would be good if there is enough work as it pays twice what any other job I could get would.

Id say it was more due to the fact there is a lack of the types of businesses that would benefit from a cycle courier.
I think thom & lee used to do tons of work for a legal firm as they appreciated quick document delivery.
Aside from someone like that who is there?
None of the print companies really need to get anything anywhere in a rush, no big media companies/newspapers.

You can have mine when I find something new
Mind you, I've been meaning to quit since last year , but I'm too complacent
-
• #17
I would love to do your job Lee. I can start tomorrow. Seriously. I really want it. Just don't tell rico(?) I want to join the army or they may not hire me.
-
• #18
Who's rico?
-
• #19
I thought you said you worked for Rico logistics.

Just to update - yjd has wound up business, so Cov can't sustain a courier. It's a shame really, i had a good chat with him and he said he'd targeted large local institutions for their local post - offer of sort and deliver at less per unit than current costs - but they just weren't able to (prepared to?) offer owt his way due to their existing arrangements.

An opportunity in Leamington at the mo too -
http://www.action21.co.uk/work_for_us.html
Bike workshop supervisor - p/t. closing date 21/8
P.s. Yjd has relaunched in Cov - no jobs going though.
Does anybody have/know of any cycling related jobs going in the Birmingham area? My current job just finished, so I could start immediately. I'm quite good at mechanics (can build wheels), could courier if there were any courier jobs (but I don't think there are). Good literacy and numeracy. Anyone?
